Hey,
Recently the odometer on my '99 Cav has been acting up. As you know the, it's digital, and sometimes the numbers just start going all craxy jumping from 60 000 km to 50 000 km, up to 75, down to 65 and so on. Then parts of the numbers might disappear completely. It usually goes back to normal after about 10 min. when this starts to happen. What could be causing this? Is this a common problem? Help

Sounds like something is not working right. Have you asked the dealer about it?

It could be as simple as a faulty LCD - or something more serious. I suggest you ask the dealer, maybe it's a common problem and has an easy/cheap solution.
Good luck,
Alex

Man dealers as scam artists......my dad brought his car in for an inspection a year ago, and they recommended like 2000 dollars in repairs....we bring it to a guy we know that races cars...not sure what series, and his mechanic looks at it and says everything is in perfect condition.....so as soon as i ask the dealer about the odometer they'll say....."looks like it needs to be replaced"......even though it works fine..and just goes crazy once in awhile. I was hoping someone could help me, so i avoid the stupid dealer

Mabey try a local mechanic who specializes in GM vehicles. I would assume that the odometer is shared among many (if not all) of GM's products, and if the problem is not unique to you he may be able to point you in the right direction.
