Chiltons or Haynes should do the trick, but they don't tell you anything about tuning.

There is TONS of information on the internet. If you are not sure about something more than likely you will be able to look it up on one of the many eclipse websites. You can learn alot from reading, but you also have to do some physical work. You will be surprised at how fast you will pick up stuff.

this trial and error thing worries me. i wish i still lived with my dad, his neighbor has a custom shop and is gonna fix my head gasket but if i lived there i could get on good terms with guy and mabey he could teach me some shit on the weekends. id be really pissed of if i fucked something up do to trial and error, and so will my dad since he bought the car. lol

Well there needs to be some limitations with that theory. Trial and error is good on basics things like, putting on an intake, changing breaks, stuff like that. I wouldn't recomend trying to rebuild your motor or something.

thanks dude, so you think a beginner can handle installing a exhaust system?

SilvrEclipse
04-17-2007, 08:37 PM
Exhaust isin't really that hard. but the bolts may be rusted really bad, so it might be easier to just cut it off. well you might have to use the stock flange if its cat-back. Try it and see. Whats the worst that could happen? You have to drive it to a muffler shop with no exhaust.

sorry, didnt see it...mine is kinda sloped too but not too bad, i just pulled the e-brake and put a stopper behind the rear two tires...works fine and my cars never gone anywhere lol...but it really depends on how sloped your driveway is and if you think it'll be safe to use the jack or not

How about on the road in front of your house? Anything flat will work. Just jack it up and then put jackstands underneath it.

Killa

When ever I work on a car, I alway put couple BIG wood block under the car, or tires work fine. I learn that from a friend the hard way :disappoin . Safety is number 1 rule when work on any thing. Use your common and sense.

I knew how it feel man, my even worse, I CANT WORK MY CAR ON MY FUCKING GARAGE !! when I work on car i have to close my garage down. So the neighbor dont complaint, well $295,000 house i guess if i get my house dirty it will make my neighbor feel bad, for example if I dont cut my grass on time, they will send me a letter to told me cut grass, I wash my shoe and leave it out side for it to dry, few day later I receive the letter, I leave a car floor mat out side, they stop by my home and told me to put it inside the garage. :disappoin

you can tell them to suck your dick! i used to live in a similar setting, that is your property and they have no right to tell you you cant leave your car floor mats out to dry.

Buy some ramps from autozone or where ever. Those work great.

Exhaust is pretty easy as everyone said. Rusty bolts suck. That's why when I did mine, I ran a header, new cat, and cat-back. All new pieces are best IMO. I got the flanges welded on at my local shop for nothing so it was basically just a straight drop in. With just a cat-back though, liquid wrench will be your best friend. I also hacked mine off with a hack-saw.

Or go take a shit on his doorstep. If I woulda had some fuck telling me what to do with my house all the time, I would not be happy. I can see if your grass isnt kept good and you are in an upscale neighborhood or something, but telling you to put your shoes inside? Yep, they definately would have gotten a poop on their porch from me.

Yes, yes you should, just don't get caught. Or you could shit in a paper bag, light it on fire and then put it on their doorstep, ring the doorbell, and then run around to the back and right that doorbell, so they have to stomp out the fire first (getting shit all over their shoes), and then they walk through their house like that.

I LOVE this thread!!
