RAV4 Exhaust Mid-Pipe

I currently have a 1996 RAV4. I noticed that on the newer model RAV (2001-2005) the mid-exhaust pipe has the flange before the pipe begins to bend, where as the mid-pipe for a 96-00 has the bend and then the flang to connect to the muffler.

Is it possible to install a 2001 exhaust mid-pipe on my 1996 RAV4?

I have been looking around and could not find an answer. Any and all help is much appreciated.

have you measured the diameter of the pipe?My Rav4's pipe was replaced by a new AEM (http://www.speedyperformanceparts.com/aem_p.html) parts,I think it can be replaced as long as those diameter fit as some compatible parts are applicable on either of the car.
