awd

My mountaineer has a few problems a few of which I already posted in earlier threads . The awd doesnt seem to work on slick surfaces ( snow , ice, mud,ECT,.) it makes a thump and then only my rear wheels spin . I put the vehicle on jack stands and step on gas same thump and only rear wheels spin what is wrong and how can I fix it ( V8 engine, auto trans,AWD)

This could be related to your "creeeping" problem. Maybe the transfer case is going bad.

Will replace transfer case and see if it corrects the problem
