Van will not start(sometimes)?

Hi:

Newbie here.

I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. My 1997 chevy express conversion van is in great shape.

All of a sudden here in the last few days when I park in in front of the shop building it will not restart when I go to leave. It has happened twice in 4 days. And it happens everytime I park there. It just clicks when you try and start it.

It will restart if I park it at home or anywhere else.

The parking space in front of the shop is on a slight incline with the right tire being a inch or two higher than the left tire. The front is about six to eight inches higher than the back. Otherwise the parking space is flat.

I am wondering if there is something about that position that could cause it not to start.

Something else that is a little weird is the first time it happened it seemed we couldn't get any juice on the jump. It finally started by going straight from another vehicle battry to the van cables. That was by disconnecting the other cars cables from their battery and bypassing my battery. Once it started we reconnected my battery up and it started.

Today I parked it there and it happened again. I have not tried to jump it as yet.

If anyone can here please respond.

Thanks,

John

P.S. I just talked to a friend and he thought it was a bad ground contact at the block. I will try that and see if any change.

Mileage and engine and tune up history?
When no start does the starter turn over engine good?
Any security or anti theft or check engine lights on?
Add on remote start or anti theft stuff?

When key turned the only sound is the relay click. Nothing else. Normally it starts very well and strong. No recent work done or tuneup. No remote start, etc.

When no start or starter does not kick in check Battery and battery cables and connections at battery and engine and starter.
If good check for 12 volts to starter solenoid on small wire.
If 12 volts there check starter if not check where you are losing the starter solenoid 12 volts feed.
The starter 12 volts has to go threw a relay and neutral saftey switch and ign switch and sometimes the anti theft and pcm to get to the starter.

Thanks, will check that out.

I tried to jump it last nite like we did sunday and it would not go at all even though we jumped to frame rather than neg side battrery. Decided it had to be on pos side battery somewhere.

The list will help.

Thanks

John

A good old volt/ohm meter test/check may show where the problem is.
