car not shiny

i followed guiddy's tutorial on how to make a model car body look like the real thing. i primered and sanded and sprayed it down with the auto spray paint. i let that dry for a few days then i took some polishing compound to it and it smoothed down most of the "orange peel." after that, i took some meguiar's polish and wax on it. it's not shiny at all like yall's are. how did you get your cars so shiny?? did you use a clear coat?? i didn't use a clearcoat...could that be it?

Did u use a metalic or pearlescent colour? If so, this is the problem. you have to use a clear coat with those types of paints, you can not get a glossy finish without it! If on the other hand, u have used a normal colour - with which a clear coat is not really necessary - i can only guess that the problem is that you have not polished out the sanding you did previously - what grade sand paper didi u use?

i used a spray paint that i bought from advance auto parts. it's a plasti-kote automotive touch up spray paint. on the back it says "this is an acrylic lacquer product."

Then you probably need a clear coat. Also, using some fine 2000 grit sandpaper to get rid of the orange peel will probably make your life a lot easier.

Metalics need to have a clear laquer coat on top. Its then the clear coat that you sand and polish. I don't know if the sanding you have done so far will effect the finish if you were to spray a clear coat now as i've not been in that situation - perhaps someone else can advise?
I would suggest spray another coat of paint to be safe then whack on the clear coat. I tip i learnt a while back and use now with auto paints is to spray your first coat of clear almost immediately after the last wet coat of paint. This helps to flatten out the surface better, i then add 2-3 more layers of clear at 20-30 min intervals.
