This is for all you would be sufferers of owning an HX and trying to find
performance parts for it! Well don't ponder about it any longer, here's some help on what I'm doing. A) Injen Cold Air Intake part# RD1565 for 2001 - 2002 DX,LX,EX and yes, it will work on a HX as well. I'm getting a 6 Horsepower increase from this alone. B) HP Racing Header w/ High FLo CAT and O2 similator for all 2001 -2003 Civics. Okay, this is good for 9HP! It gets rid of the PRE-CAT and adds a high-flo cat where it should be :) You also use an O2 simulator that HP Racing will have available (this is new) in about a few weeks from now. Okay, so you got rid of that shitty exhaust :) C) Unorthodox Crank Pulley... easy to install (don't worry, Honda engines are already internally balanced) .. make sure you get the proper size belts if needed. This adds 4 ~ 6 HP to the rear wheels. Okay, so you'll get about an 18 ~ 20 HP increase with these addons alone for your HX!!! So now you have a 135 ~ 137 HP producing engine! D) Cam Timing Gear... okay, this will work in your SOHC 1.7L vtec-e 117HP D engine! You can advance the timing and run high octane gas for a few HP more! E) Thermal Cat Back Exhaust good for about 2HP ~ 5HP!
Okay, so now you have a 140~142 HP Civic HX ! not bad... you can always add Nitrous , but i wouldn't go higher then 50HP for daily use.
Anyway a completely stock HX automatic did 0 - 60 @ 9.2 seconds.. my best time yet. Launching at 2500 rpm. Well guess what; a manual DX also does 0 - 60 in 9.3 seconds... so the HX isn't all that bad!!! I manual HX will even perform better on the launch, but the CVT performs better when passing or hitting it @ 30mph (you know those goofy races you get into on a Saturday night boys and girls...). They'll be coming out with a Turbo for the 7th generation LX, DX (which will work on the HX) for the car in the future... a lot of people are waiting.. so hang on ;) Again, this is if you don't want to do an engine swap. You'll have to replace the exhaust and ecu anyways if you do that.:smoker2:
