no, i'm stuck with xp. If anything, i'd use apple and the only reason i don't use apple is cuz i have yet to buy a new computer (all my current/previous comps were used, custom built w/ crappy windows).:shakehead

I'm currently running XP and refuse to upgrade to vista. It's a huge memory hog. I'm quite impressed with the mac os X but dont have a mac. A computer is only as useful as it's software and mac just dosent have the software support I want yet.

That's the problem with advertising. Mac can advertise all they want, but all MAc has is Mac really. Linux practically has nothing, but Windows has been around forever and a day advertsiing simplicity and well everything stated coming with it and therefore the software companies followed it. Thus, creating a mini monopoly.
That's why Sony is going to win the Blu Ray/HD war with Microsoft. Sony owns the electronic world with TVs, Players, consoles, the lot. Advertising and established power.
Ok, that was off topic but I still like Windows. It does what I need and the computer hardware is what makes it work well. Besides, with all the mods you can do to the OS on shortcut etc...

I dissagree with the blu Ray battle. It seams that the only person pushing it is sony, however there are hundreds of other companies that want to go HD DVD. It will be interesting to see where it all goes.
If you want to talk about mods... PC based systems have an amazing market on that one. You can get just about anything for your PC. Hell you can practically make them hover if you really wanted to.

Not PC mods. HD is the weakest thing ever and HD isn't the disc like the blu-ray. I want a blu ray just so i can almost back up my entire system on one disk. The size is just amazing!
I hate HD. It's overrated unless TVs are put right beside each other.

Personally blu ray looks and sounds great, but you have to look at who is buying the technology. In all aspects HD DVD is cheaper and most consumers are only looking for discs that have enough space for their movies, thats it. However for your use, you like the size blu ray can hold. But remember the average consumer, they are the ones who will determine the outcome.
Sony is a big contributer to their program, but you also have Microsoft backing up HD DVD.
Personally I think HD DVD will still win.

but for maybe 98% of homes, the pc is still a separate entity from their television and related entertainment systems.
that microsoft supported hd dvd is going to be sat in the kid's Xbox 360 or maybe in the corner of the room on the PC.
