Hi all.
Busy building a group of 917s (Fujimi) including 1970 winner, 1971 winner, yellow "hippy" Kyalami version and Martini (Brands Hatch 1971 with added air scoops and flared rear wheel arches).
I have a question regarding the 1971 Le Mans winner. Does anyone know what the clear part represents (C14)? It's glued to the lower front of the engine cover, and I can't tell if it's meant to represent a clear cover or a mesh cover. A picture would be useful if anyone has it.
Secondly, the decals provided for the electrical cut out and extinguishers (18,19) - does anyone have pictures of this side of the car? I haven't been able to turn up anything on the web.
Thanks
Graham

You mean like this one? :)

Don't have that version of the kit so don't know anything about this C14 part you mention. Can you be more specific as to where it is located? I seem to recall the 1971 winner was a special car with several innovations, maybe that part is one of them. But then again I may be confused.

Graham,
I think i know which part you mean, as I understand it was meant to take the brunt of any insects hitting the car and help keep the windscreen clearer. I may be wrong - I will try and find of the piece I mean.

Could the clear part be this light just in front of the Martini logo? If so I would also be interested to know exactly what it is for, many (if not all) Le Mans cars from this era have a light like that, sometimes round sometimes like below.

SeanyG - "look a little stupid too me thinks ha-ha!!!"???
Yeah right, as if....
RallyRaider - the second picture now clearly shows this is a light, so that's a great help. It's either for night time identification (and it's on the correct side for the Le Mans pit wall) or it may be a "mechanics light". It would be very close to where the battery would be located in the engine bay of these cars.
Regarding your first picture, the black square next to the "lightning flash" - do you think this is a cover or a sticker?
Also, the object below the "E" symbol - any ideas on that?
Thanks for the feedback so far.

The area next to the lightning bolt is the electrical cut off switch. It is housed in a recess. It would be near the battery as the battery was behind in the passenger seat. The E would be the emergency extinguisher button. Someone would simply have to hit this button in case of fire in the cockpit area. It would be a slightly recessed button.
