i know there is a difference in the TT and N/A but what is it?
is there a difference in years for TT or N/A?
do N/A cams have more lift than TT? or do TT have more than N/A?
can any gains come from putting the TT ones on a N/A or the ones from the N/A on a TT?

NA and TT intake cams are identical. NA exhaust cams have a slightly better lift if I remember right. Not enough of a difference to put a stock NA exhaust cam in a TT though considering the work involved.

i thought it was longer duration. i dunno. it could be either, but i suspect duration since its a turbo car and its makes all its power in the upper rpms.
i was under the impression that the TT heads flow significantly better/more than the NA heads: the intake, exhaust, valve ports and combustion dome is larger on the TT.
anyways, as Stealthee said, the difference doesn't merit getting some TT exhaust cams. instead, get some Adjustable Cam Gears (Fidanza and Unorthdox Racing both make some for our cars). this will allow you to manipulate the valve duration and gain a good bit of horsepower on the top end.

Lift is the same, but there is less overlap on the NA's. The NA's also may be open for 1-2 less degrees but I dont remember.

i am asking because i just got a complete 1st gen lonk block and i am in the process of rebuilding and since i will have both sets of cams i was wondeing what the difference was.
is it true that the 1st gen tt cams are more aggressive than the 2nd gen?
if so,how so?

that's what i thought, thanks for confirming. yes, you're right, the TT ex cam has 1-2 degree MORE overlap (or duration, however you wanna look at it) than a NA ex cam.

is your 1G long block a TT or NA? (that is, does it have TT heads or NA heads). if its a TT, then go with the TT pistons and TT exh cams. but you'll need turbos to make use of the power efficiently.

Overlap and duration are 2 different things.
Overlap is when both cams have the valves open at the same time
Duration is how long the valve is held open for

yes, i know. i just wanted to keep it simple for Arozoco. as you said, overlap is obvious: the length in time (measured in degrees) that both the intake and exhaust cams valves are open. and duration is the length each side's valve(s) (intake or exhaust) are open.

and are you going for the TT conversion, or just rebuilding your NA engine?

i am rebuilding it as a 8:1 15gs with supporting mods bla bla bla
the long block that i got it came with the lower and upper intake with the tb and the exhaust manis and turbos, precats, waterneck, flywheel, 6-puk clutch, feed and return lines it basically came ready to drop in for $600 (got to love 3si:grinyes: )
