newbie here with a couple ???s

I just bought a 2002 Silverado 2500HD. I love it and cant wait to get started modifying it. Id like to add some factory looking foglights to it but here that the 99-02 style don't really do anything. Do I have a lot of options for foglights without hacking up the bumper and wiring within the truck? How about replacing the lower air dam with maybe a suburban one I could have sworn I seen one that looked like it held round lights instead of the oval ones. My truck did NOT come factory with foglights and I really would like to add in the factory switch panel to make it look factory. my truck also has that annoying DRL option and I sometimes cant stand it. How does the factory foglights work in conjuction with the DRL? ideally, I want to drive the truck during the day with just the marker lights and foglights on. is this possible to do with using the factory style add on harness for the foglights?

Not sure what you mean by the fog's don't really do anything in '99-'02s? I'm pretty sure it's already wired for fogs, just not installed, and you can just order the factory switch and install in the factory location.

If you don't have the proper air dam, you could always just cut out the spot for the fogs. Or buy one like the suburban you mentioned. I believe it'll fit.

As for the DRL's, I think you can pull the fuse. Or just wait till the bulbs die and don't replace them, or just pull them out completely. But that would look a bit funny i think.

I am going to get a set of Hella FF75 fog lights '02. I hear they are really bright and will fit in the air dam on these trucks. They only problem with using a factory switch, is that it is not a postive contact switch, it is controlled through the BCM. So to use the factory switch, you would need to get the BCM reprogrammed at the dealer. I believe that the BCM on some trucks come with it already programmed for fog lights, but I don't know if there is a way to check. Hella has a pretty factory looking switch you could use.

well if I can find a nice looking switch then I may just wire them in seperatly. I already have the all the wire needed as well as a relay so I guess all I would need is the lights themselves anda switch. My factory airdam already has the cutouts for the foglights. There is just 2 holes there. Now its time to do some shopping for a good quality fog/driving lamp.

one other thing, there is a AUX switch on the dash and I do not have any roof mounted lamps. Could I use that type of switch as a foglight switch? Then it would look like a factory setup.

If the AUX button is not a positive contact switch, you will probably have to have it reprogrammed (a toggle switch is positive contact, a push button switch like the cargo lamp & factory fog light switches are not). There may be a way to connect your fog lights to a non-positve contact switch such as your AUX switch without having the BCM reprogrammed, but I don't know how. Maybe someone else here does.

well Im still gonna look around for a nice looking switch that doesnt look tackey or really out of place. Im not a fan of those toggle style ones since most seem to break off. Maybe I have just had bad luck with them.
