2001 F150 5.4, this is a hard problem to define. Every so often when you go out to start the truck it doesnt start but it will crank. Then if you wait about 30 minutes and try again it runs fine. Has recently had a new fuel pump and filter, and alt. put in. problem stayed the same. When you turn the truck off the check engine, water, and oil lights lights, and little dashs across the odometer light up and stay on until you press in the brake pedal. I let the lights stay on for a couple hours once to see if they would shut off on there own but they didnt.:screwy::screwy::banghead::banghead:

Your truck should have the OBD-II system, buy and/or borrow an OBD-II scanner box and see if any codes were tripped and stored in the engine computer, data jack should be under your steering wheel somewhere.

they said it had no codes? Also forgot to mention the battery gauge and the fuel gauge stay active on the dash until you press the brake?

Cranks no start
Sounds like short in ignition system - two shorts really suince one causes 'hot lights' to stay lit after you shut down and the other causes intermittent no start.
Mebso a relay because the 'hot light' problem is solved by activation of brake light circuit.
Seek to fix the hot light problem first, other may follow

With a hydraulic clutch look near the clutch master cylinder. With a mechanical clutch, look near the pedal.
