Rings on D15B2

I am replacing the rings on my 88 hatchback tomorrow. Also, my rod bearings. Is there anything I should keep in mind as I do this? Like do I have to keep the engine at a certain rpm's for so long after the first start? I have never done rings. I have changed head gaskets like crazy on this engine, but never anything on the lower end. The engine has been over heated many times, and would keep blowing head gaskets because it warped the head, and I replaced the head, and I haven't blown a gasket in over 6 months. So I'm assuming the block is ok. The engine just smokes extremely bad. Which this started after the many over heatings. Is there a chance that the rod caps could possibly be stuck on because of this? I had an old chevy 305 that did that, I pushed it to the limit, because I was swapping engines the next day, and it got so hot, that I never did get the rod caps off. I bought a cylinder hone yesterday, the 3 stone kind. i could not find any of the bottle brushes local. What should I keep in mind on this? Any help is greatly appreciated. I will be doing this tomorrow morning, thanks.

when you blow head caskets to you have the head machined and also do you machine to block to or no. cause i jsut had my head gasket done and my block andh ead were warped. as for your rings well whats your compression looking at. that might be something to look at before you got ripping your engine apart.
