Yeah, comparing to the GiS2 the new movie with all it's cameras, helicopter, speedboat and so one, lacks the "illegality" feeling of the first two movies. Also I don't like the sound from the inside the car. The outside sound with all the wind noise was much better.
But the Bonus Clips ROCKS! I love them! Especially the crazy biker at the end of the clips part! Those guys have balls!

Actually the movies are sped up greatly. I havent seen the 3rd but its obvious that the first two were them just driving around. Then they just sped up the film and dubbed in the sounds.

For anybody that does anything with video. You can tell the film was sped up by the lack of any interlace lines and the white/black ratios are very low.

Also if you watch the first one - about halfway through you can see a lighthouse on the left side of the screen - Which isnt spinning like any lighthouse ive ever seen! - Its spinning at a nice 1k RPM or something :)

You're saying they sped those films up and then dubbed the sound back in? That's way more trouble than it would be worth! I bet they also paid a bunch of people to drive 5 mph on the freeway so that it would appear that the camera car was flying by at tremendous speed even though it was doing 'normal' speeds!

I'm pretty sure this is real. You don't see any turns that would be impossible at the speeds they're driving and you also don't see people moving super fast or anything.

You can tell when things have been sped up. This was not. Get a clue!

Download from Kazaa (if you have that progam or something like it).

It is very obviously sped up. It is soooo very very easy to do on a computer these days - me and my friend made our own movie like this of us doing 70 and stuff on the interstates and with a couple hours on a computer - wala! were doing 180+ and it looks darn real
but theres always things to look for such as the interlace lines and the black/white ratios ( i believe i already mentioned this)

and how do you explain the lighthouse spinning at about 4 the normal lighthouse speed?

So the light house was moving fast... so what! Most radio tours and the like have flashing lights to help aircraft avoid collision. Do you think a light house can spin slowly nowadays and not be dangerous to aircraft?

Plus, the Porsche, Supra, and Cosworth are all flying past other cars in the movies. Are you saying that everyone of these vehicles they passed was paid by the film makers? You're stupid if you think so. Watch the film again. The camera shakes the right amount, the shifts make sense, the braking and tire squeal match. Everything matches! It would be a lot of trouble to go in and edit all this!

Do you know why the sense of speed seems so great? Its low camera angles. It does it all the time. Watch Ronin. They use these angles all the time.

Prove that you can speed up video. Host a video you guys made of 'faked speed' somewhere for download. I dare ya.

you speed the video up 2 times hes now doing 100 and your doing 150 the difference between your cars looks alot greater than it really is

also watch how fast the cars its passing seem to be going - theyre moving at a rate that suggests over 100+? that cant be right - of course because the video was sped up - i have tons of videos of me and my friends doing 120+ and your never passing those 3 foot lines on the road that fast - the rate at which those other cars are passing the lines is pretty outragous.

i dont have any webspace but i can make as many sped up videos as you want.

That "Lighthouse" is actually a restraunt and it blinks so fast because they want customers to know where it is. I don't know what your talking about, everyone who's a car head in stockholm knows who is behind the videos. The first one had fake cops and a relatively slow 911 Carrera which is a non-turbo 6-cyl boxer with a RUF exhaust, Green Bilstein shocks, Lowered springs, 911 Turbo rods, Porsche Turbo RS-brakes and 17" BBS wheels which totals 251 hp and does 5.36 0-60 and 13.75 in the 1/4. The first one is my favorite because of porsche. Getaway in Stockholm 2 had real chases though, it took three days of driving the course to get good chases(that escort is not "approx 450" its more like 500bhp incase your wondering. They are real, cops don't always get their man and an expert driver in a car that fits him like a glove is enough to outrun all of the cops you saw and the helo's that most of those countries employ for police work couldn't keep up with thoes cars, they don't have Bell 206 jetrangers.

To me the first one was the best I mean when I saw the Porsche tearing up the roads at night my knees were shaking. The second and third ones were ... ehhh but the bonus scenes on those two kicked ass. I was confused too when I saw the "lighthouse" anyway on the official site it said that it was not sped up I really don't care, the videos kick ass anyway, either way they still ran away from the police. It has been posted a lot of times, but the GIS series are REAL.

what would you think is easier?

a) You just drift through a highway exit

b) You drive through the same exit, you put that "action" into your pc, speed it up. re-dub the sounds, insert the sounds of the tires and the wind. fake the parts where you can actually see the steering wheel turn like mad. Then, you steal a bunch of police cars and make the fake chases, and don't forget to make fake cars driving 5 mphs for the effect.
Make roadblocks for preventing real cars using those roads (would seem like an extra racer...) and then do all the things i forgot to mention.

And how would some one be able to redub an engine sound so that it realistic higher rpm engine sound?

Seems to me that the people claiming GIS being fake, are just a bunch of pathetic, lonely owners of a 1.1 Suzuki Swift (from 1986 probably) who feel a little jealous about other cars.

I am not from Sweden, but from holland, and the entire streetracing scene in europe just isn't anything like the scene in the US, so i don't think you can look at something from across the ocean and calll something fake when you don't know the scene. So as long as you didn't really have seen a Swedish plain clothes squad car, you can't tell the difference.

btw, i am not saying that the european scene is better than the US scene, there are just too different.

And about that lighthouse, every lighthouse in the world has a different rate of shine, so that a captain of a ship can tell which coast he is going to, when he sees the light. I don't know if it is a restaurant, but then it could have any rate of light of course. In either way, the lighthouse is absolutely no evidence that the film is fake or not.

By the way, if it would have been fake, why wouldn't they edit that when they already were in the business of inserting new engine sounds, braking sounds, wind sounds, inserting three small black rectangles where the light comes from would have solved it.

GIS 4 is out now (since october 12th) download the trailer from www.getawayinstockholm) i have seen the trailer allready, and if someone calls that fake, he'll be real stupid.

I've just watched GiS 4. It's not so bad...

4th episode is really better than the third one (the most boring one for me) but once again, it's nothing compared to GiS2. How to forget screaming ford 4 cylinders engine and turbo pressure valve... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...


Anyway, it's not a reason not to watch it !! RUN !!

Its not a restaraunt or a lighthouse! It is a TV tower and there are two revolving lights and when you see them in line it appears like one spinning really fast. Nothing has been done to the frame rate!

not only would they have to do all the work to speed up the cars, they would have to do the telemetry of all the other cars on the road to make it look like it's not sped up. Not just driving 5 mph, but around curves the other cars would have to go waaaay slower since the acceleration around a curve seems greater. I would much rather just take 2 500hp cars and drive wrecklessly, it wouldn't be worth it the other way.

And how do you explain the police lights, they're strobing normally.

at first i had no doubt that these films were real, the possibility of a fake didnt even enter my head, but when banchi pointed out the lighthouse/restaurant/tv tower i had a bit of a think, and re watched the videos.

To my mind the lighthouse is an anomaly that i cant explain, but i believe these videos are real and not sped up. there is a lot of evidence pointing towards that, eg. the police lights (as you said). the sound and gear shifts are accurate, as is most other things, for example in GiS 3 the speed of the bus when the nsx has to slow down behind it. this proves for me anyways that it is real.

and in anycase its fucking cool to watch, so why stir the shit?
