EGR Klean screen/gasket sealer?

Hello- I just bought a Tomco/Klean Screen gasket kit for my egr valve on 1992 Astro 4.3L,W,CPI. The gasket I have been using has been silver and I was told "no gasket sealer needed. The Tomco is made of cardboard/fiber material, and I need to know if I should use gasket sealer with it or not. Their web sight isn't saying, so I figured to ask before making a mistake. I have permatex black high temp. sealer. If I do need it, do I use it on both sides of gasket? I don't want to use it incorrectly and mess up my new expensive egr valve. I'll go out and wrestle the spark plugs out and change rotor and cap(a/c/delco), that should eat up enough time to get a answer:) Thanks for any reply to this simple question

Well I managed to Wrestle the plugs out, amazing how long it takes to get the 3 driver sides out !! Almost $3.00 galllon for gas it's worth putting in the Rapidfire plugs. One mechanic friend said I should use the gasket sealer on both sides of the new gasket, but I'd like a second opinion if anyone has one. Thanks

Do not use sealer on the gasket at all!

A little trick for replacing the spark plugs is to jack up the front of the vehicle and go through the wheel openings, (you don't need to remove the wheels). Use a spark plug swivel socket, (5/8" deep socket with a swivel built in) and a 2' 3/8" drive extension.

Well I installed the new thermo egr valve and hooked the wires back up. Motor started right up, idled ok but had ticking sound from it. I had cleared all the codes by taking off the neg. cable. Saw ses light on. Checked code.... 32 of course. Took the egr off for the 6th time in 4 weeks, checked to make sure it was clean inside, reinstalled it. Started right up but code 32 again. Reved motor and it dies and wont restart. This is a brand new part, I would hope it would work for $200!!! Anyway can I check to see if its getting correct voltage or any other test keeping in mind I don't have a tech 1 or any other instruments?? Starting to get a wee bit frustrated now. Thought the kleen screen was the fix with a new egr, but apparently not yet. HELP :(
