1,8t Suspension Noise

I have a 2004 Golf 4 1,8t and for a while now there is a 'clunk' noise on occasion that seems to come from the front right wheel hub when turning from lock to lock in reverse and occasionally in a forwards motion.
I have on occasion used the vehicle for towing a boat (about 1100kg) and am beginning to wander if the trailer is taking a toll on suspension/shell..
It's intermittent so difficult to track and wandered if anyone else had the same problem... My golf 3 seems to do the same thing

Sounds like a bad upper strut mount and bearing. Usually cause a loud clunk when turning slowly in a parking lot.

Great, sounds right - there is a creaking noise that has developed over the last week when turning, eminating from the same side of the engine. I suspect it's coming from the same strut that could be making the noise from my original post. Will check it out tomorrow. Thx
