I purchased a remote for my 2002 Grand Prix GTP and have followed the instructions but can't get it programmed. Could the GTP instructions be different than regular Grand Prix? Looking for suggestions. Thanks

Did you originally have a remote/RKE option with your '02 GTP?

We bought the car used without any remotes. But a dealer ran the vin and said the car has the feature.

If the VIN check shows it then you most likely have it. But not all GTP/GT/SE have the RKE option and higher level body control module (BCM). I believe the GM RPO code is AU0.
Check your fuses first like for the RCDLR receiver, MALL PGM. At what step is the programming failing? Did you try basic remote synchronization in the owner's manual?

Thanks for your help, I got it programmed. I didn't need to do the step of opening and closing a door to hear the ding for programming mode.
