I need some help on why my engine wont run right. I just installed a sr20det and since I have it hasnt run right. It doesn't want to start. When it starts turning sometimes it will die out and sometimes it will turn real slow until I give it some gas. It doesnt seem to be firing very strong. Then when it is running it will idle okay but every once in awhile I get a stutter. Then when I try to drive it it seems to be missing a cylinder. It sounds like a lawn mower and has no power. I tried installing a tps and it didnt make a difference if anyone has had any experience witha problem like this or has any ideas. I need the help.

compression check, check spark, check fuel pressure at the rail and check fuel injectors. if all that checks out, which i doubt it will, start looking towards a MAF or something. id bet money you have low compression on one cylinder.

checked compression it wasnt very high around 150 but I would still think it would run right just wouldn't have that much power. I dont really know how to check the fuel system and all four cyclinders are sparking.

150 on each cylinder? or did you just check one...all four should be within less than 10% variance of each other. to check fuel, get an ohm meter and check the resistance of the injectors while they are unplugged. should be around 12 ohms. if its too low or high they need replacing. 11-13 ohms is ok too. also, check injectors for mechanical faults. unplug injector, remove spark plug from that cylinder, and have someone cycle the key off and on without cranking the car. look down plug hole and no fuel should be going into the cylinder. if it is, bad injector. do this for each cylinder.
thats basically how to check the fuel system. otherwise, try and rule out a blown HG, or mechanical engine damage.

all four read above 150 but didn't go above 160. i will try the fuel system and see how that works.

doing diagnostics like this may seem like a backwards and overly complicated way of checking a problem, but it will eventually save lots of money so your not throwing parts at a problem. also, its kind of hard for me to tell you exactly whats wrong from just a description, so bear with it.
