Stereo Compatability

I was just wondering, I have a 2000 grand am that I took the OEM CD AM/FM tuner out of and replaced with a new deck. Are the stereo's out of my particular car compatible with the stereo controls mounted on the steering wheel? I have a buddy who is interested in it but if he can't use his steering controls then it is no good to him...thanks in advance.

First need to know your car stereo part number and also your friend stereo part number then I can tell.

Yes thier is a harness that can apply the steering wheel controls to an aftermarket.
The stealership and here sells them, not cheap though.
