95 Lumina Overheating

Anyone have any ideas on my 95 Lumina 3.1 L overheating problems. I had the lower intake manifolds repaired but problems still persist. Temp seems to fluctuate more than I would have suspected. New water pump with new GM impeller design - not a rebuilt one with original fin design. New thermostat. Tried many times to purge the air. With a/c on, only Fan #1 comes on and it cycles about 1 minute on-off cycles. Fan #2 doesn't come on until it really heats up, well over 3/4 on temp gauge, almost at top end. Shop manual seems to say with a/c on at idle both fans should come on and stay on - mine doesn't work this way. Can't seem to keep this thing from overheating. Any ideas PLEASE??? Thanks DRO

lumiy...unhook the battery and replace the temp. sending unit by the thermostate houseing... make sure the engine is cold ... then start the car and drive it dont idle it.. then purge the air out of the system.. you should be good...after that you should be able to place your hand on top of the engine and it should be cold or luc warm, if not let engine coool purge air.....
