Hello all,
I have still been having a continuing problem with my 01 GASE 3.4L. If I slowly accelerate (this could be a relative term :grinyes:) my cars rpm will jump back-n-forth about a total of 500 or so rpm. It has been doing this for about a year now and is driving me nuts.
Here is what I've done so far...
New Air Filter
New Oil and Filter
New Fuel Filter
New Wires
New Plugs
Ran several cans of SeaFoam through over this length of time
If I run the car hard for awhile it seems to make then slow acceleration a little worse with this chugging problem. The only thing I think it could be is possibly a vacuum leak. I have heard you can tell if you have a leak by a small wissle noise which I can hear somewhat...don't know though if what I'm hearing is normal. I really don't know what else it could be, maybe MAF. Hope fully not...haha.
If you think it is a vacuum leak if you could provide a pic showing what the lines look like and possibly all the locations of such lines on my vehicle I would greatly appreciate it!!
Maybe you got a few ideas of your own Xero?
Thanks you guys,
Jon

Have you tried cleaning your IAC ?
The Tips and Maintenance (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=2148)has this procedure.
Someone else had posted about thier car chugging too.
Could be many things, start small and try and isolate the troubles.
Have you trans fluid & filter been changed in the last 40K miles ?
But from what you are saying it might be your injectors and/or fuel system needs a profesional cleaning.
You can buy an injection system cleaning tool but it runs about $300 !
Uses compressed air and some cleaner to blast through the shradder valve, works great, much better then the gas tank stuff.
GM does recomend that this be done from time to time.

Hey Xero,
Thanks for the reply. No I haven't cleaned the IAC yet, I did read that post though and plan on cleaning and testing that shortly.
I haven't changed my tranny fluid or filter. From what everyone has said in other posts it sounds like something that I should put off as long as I can. Dont wanna knock debris in there loose. Should I change this as my car has about 84k on it now? Also, any idea on how much it should cost to clean my fuel system and injectors professionally?
Really appreciate your help Xero.
Have a great one,
Jon

Trans fluid intervals should be around 40k miles, so you are over due.
Dont get it flushed thats what causes stuff to move into the Valve body and make the problems worse.
A fuel system cleaning from a dealer runs around $250-300.
Stuff does biuld up in the fuel lines, which when these particles come loose get into the injectors and cause misfires/bad idle & performance.
Hope that helps.

and yes,i also have tha same problem.when i just atart it up and idel going real slow it starts going toof-toof-toof.like its gonna stall,if i hit the gas it fixes it.sometimes it will just take off by it self.and you have to tap on the gas to stop it.
it is not the fuel filter
it is not the fuel filter
