ok well im in the middle of buying a 280zx for $500. i think its a really good deal, but theres 1 small problem. When you shift it makes this wierd clunk noise. Its fine when u clutch in and shift, but when u let go of the clutch it makes the clunk sound. Do you know wut it might be? Is it a big problem, or something minor and easy to fix? the guy said that it could b the differential. could it be that it needs more transmission fluid? if anyone can help, i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance.

Well first off where does the sound come from? The middle or the back of the car? Does it just make a noise or can you feel it? Is the car hard to put in gear? Last but not least when you make sharp turns do you hear any noise?

yeah that could be a lot of things, you could have some bad bushings causing your diff to twist wich can cause a "clunk" or a transmission mount could be bad or sagging which would also cause a clunk, so like he said above, it depends on where in the car its coming from. if its the bushings you can get those replaced with some energy poly ones for like 150 labor and all.
