98 Taurus Multifuncton Switch/Clockspring?

I've got a '98 Taurus and after I changed the wheel bearings this problem cropped up:

Turn signals work now but didn't at first
Wipers work
High beams work
No hazards
Intermittent horn
Intermittent cruise

My first inkling is the multifunction switch but someone mentioned possibly the clockspring. Is there any particular reason why everything would have been working fine and then start acting up after a wheel bearing change? The only thing I can think of is that something could have happened in the MFS as I was turning the steering wheel back and forth? Thanks for any suggestions!

It might be purely coincidental. I had a similar issue several years ago. It turned out to be a relay that is located up under the dash to the left of the steering column. This relay controls both the turn signals and hazard lights. Good luck.

I also have a 89 Taurus wagon, and had problems with the hazards not working, then the blinkers and then the cruise control. I checked the fuses, all OK, tried to check the front blinkers but couldn't get them out, so then I took apart the steering column cowling, 3 Phillip's screws and took off the multifunction switch, 2 torx screws. I pushed the hazard button on and then sprayed the wiring connections with WD40, nothing happened, I wiggled the wires and nothing, then I tried to take off one of the wire connectors and the hazards started to blink. My blinkers also work now, I haven't tried the cruise yet.
