Widsheild washer 96 Caravan

Hi Great Forum I,ve been lurking around here for months lots of good information. Anyway windshield washer died this morning. yes it has fluid in it and all fuses are good. any ideas, could it be the pump or diaphragm? where would I locate these on this 96 caravan and is it easy to "fix" I hate paying shop time for things like this.

I've not toyed with the windshield washer on mine yet, but if it was manageable, I'd unplug the connector at the pump and apply 12v to it and see if it ran. If not, I just removed a whole lot of variables. If it did run, I eliminated the pump from the problem tree.

Just shooting from the hip on this one, so may be off base.

Although I have never had to deal with the reservoir end of the washer system in my van, I can tell you a few things about it. You have only one tank, located behind the right (passenger side) headlight and in front of the right front tire splash shield. It should have two pumps, one for the windshield system and one for the rear hatch system. The pumps work independently but draw fluid from the same source.

First check to see if both systems work. You might have someone with a good ear listen for pump operation when both systems are activated. You could have a problem with bad pumps or bad delivery hoses.

Did you have your windshield replaced recently? We cracked the windshield in our van a few years ago and had a mobile glass service replace the glass. Then my wife conplained that the windshield washers didn't work. In order to replace the windshield, the wiper arms and plastic cowl panel over the wiper mechanism had to be removed. While removing this part, a plastic tee for the washer hoses broke and the installers either didn't notice or ignored it. Anyway, I replaced the tee and everything works again. Just thought I would pass this on, on a hunch.
