dash light out on climate control unit

This is a 2001 626. The lights that illuminate the blower motor knob and the temp select knob are not working. Before I tear into it, can someone tell me if these use the little mini diodes that can be found at radio shack? I've fixed lights in a Subaru with these before. Is it hard to get behind there to fix these lights?

yea same thing wrong on my 91 626....

mine were out to on my probe auto zone carrys the light you need to fix it you just pop the control out and replace the bulb

my lights are out on my dash for the right side of the dash, but they flicker in and out, sometimes they dont work and sometimes they do, anyone know why

My car is a 626 '01 ES model. I tried prying the controls off, but only managed to crack the trim. Does anyone know how to get the controls off so the bulbs can be replaced? Perhaps the probe is different? The Haynes manual is crap for this detail.
