fuse I'm guessing

My one cigarette lighter hasn't worked (but still lights up) for about a month. Yesterday I lost power to the other one. I've been working 80hr a week, and the gf is visiting, so havn't had much time to work on the car at all (brakes, 60k, oil change, etc). Anyway, anybody know offhand which fuse or relay I blew and if it's 10A, 20A, etc? I don't feel like getting under the dash in my dress clothes in the rain to look around. I looked at the fuse box under the hood and all the fuses looked good as far as I could tell at 11pm at a gas station.

Thanks.

if you don't have one, get a circuit tester like this one. $5 at autozone. any cheapo one will work. you can check all the fuses in 1 minute.

here's some diagrams/illustrations from the service manual for the under dash fuse box.

looks like fuse #5, a 15A fuse, powers the cigarette lighter and powered mirrors.

sweet. Should have looked at the manual myself. I'll swap it tomorrow. I was trying to figure out what else I had lost besides the cigarette lighters...but never thought to check power mirrors..and everything else worked. Thanks

Fixed the fuse, now the one lighter works, one next to the active aero button is still dead...so I'm gonna have to do some circuit testing. I ever mention how much I love electrical problems

you're probably on par with an electrical engineer now with all the schematic diagrams you've had to read and translate.

i'm glad they did that. how many people remove the ashtray and use it as a cup holder?

Yep, works well for the radar detectors. :grinyes:

While I did smoke back in the day, it was never in the vr4. Nobody eats or smokes in the car, and I'm the only one who drinks anything but water in it. And no, I'm not kidding.

And I barely use my radar detector anymore anyway. Local PA cops can't use radar, so I only need it on the highways or when I'm visiting NY.

Haha yep, I just thought of doing that about a month ago, so i pulled the ashtray out and put in in my council, and put my can of pop in there. Pop cans fit perfect in there...it holds them really tight in the bottom. Its really useful because one of the previous owners never put my cup holders back in.
