Hi,
1984 Honda Shadow VT700C.
I was wondering if anyone knew if the back two yellow running lights are supposed to be on all the time or if they are just for the turn signals? They work fine as turn signals they just don't come on as running lights.
I pulled the bulb from one side the bulb looks brand new as does the socket, so if there is a problem it is probably else where. The bulb is a single filament style, (Bulb # 1156 probably, or the high wattage version of it), I didn't look at it while I had it out.
The front two yellow lights both stay on all the time as running lights and function fine as turn signals as well, although the left hand light sometimes goes out after I make a right hand turn, if I press on the button a couple of times the left running light will come back on and stay on like it should.
Maybe the entire problem I am having is due to the turn signal switch going bad.
Any suggestions?

The rear bulbs are turn signals only. I agree that the front light issue is most likely in the turn signal switch, since fiddling with it makes it work properly again.

Sounds like the cancel is sticking in the switch...flush it with some wD-40 or electrical contact cleaner
