Had Masserati for dinner.

Another night, another run.....this time its one worth mentioning.
I see a guy in a large coupe swinging in and out of lanes down the road and it looked kinda fast and made a nice sound so I figured I'd go after it.

a few miles later I catch up and the guy just dossent seem interested, just keeps driving like an ass but a few blocks later we catch a light. (okay I forced my way in front of a van and got next to him).
Its a white Masserati spyder coupe.
The dude looks over and actually says "donteven try it kid your noth worth the time".
Light goes green and I launch noice! (I usually roll off and get on it after a few feet).
I pull but as I hit 2nd he matches me. We're neck and neck through 2nd as I watch the rev needle climb quickly to 6K and beging to think this might not of been a good idea. I shift to 3rd and I fall back a few feet, before my mind can register the fact that Im loosing the power kicks in nice and hard and I sling shot a full car. (3rd gear is the slaughter gear on this car, its rough, carries enourmous power and lasts longer then 1st and 2nd.)
Im so involved in the moment that I forget to look at the revs andshift almost late. By 4th were doing over 110 mph in a small two lane road with an intersection quickly approaching but Im a full car and a half ahead. just as Im about to call quits and brake he lets off and falls way back. Im thinking awsome, no last minute fly by bullshit.

At the next light he pulls up and me being the bigger man give him a thumbs up. He lowers the window and in a bitter tone says "you must of spend alot of money on that piece of shit."

me: Well its not stock but quite frankly its got almost nothing done, just an intake and exhaust....still that was a good distance, even stock it would of pulled on you".

him: yeah sure bro, whatever lets you sleep at night.

*light turns green but he dossent notice*

me: oh Im gonna sleep real well tonight son! I got a good story to tell in the morning.
him: oh that you actually beat a Masserati.
me: oh no no no, that I ran into a guy who thought Masseraties where actually fast! no one is gonna believe that shit!

I take off again and gun it. Home boy never caught me and after 5 blocks gave up and dissapeared into my rear view.

Why is everyone spelling Maserati wrong? Did I miss something?

I love how the cars look, but I've heard they arn't very good performance cars for the price. Great cars if you are trying to stand out a little more then a 911. Just because its Italian doesn't mean its a Ferrari.

The Maserati Coupe is getting pretty old now- this is what the new one is going to look like

Maserati. Because sometimes even Porsche owners need to look like decent human beings.

No, seriously. I know three people that own Ferraris, all three are real chill guys, the kind you can just kick back with and hang out and even though they drive a 200K car, they are real friendly cuz they have nothing to prove. Most Maserati owners realize they are driving the "Poor Man's Ferrari", so they need to be huuuuuge cock smokes about it.

I was in a parking lot once that had a 430, so I was taking a few pictures of it, and the owner came out and we ended up talking about his car for about an hour. I took a picture of a Spyder in a parking lot, the owner saw it, and wanted to take away my camera and sue me.

not a fan of maserati's at all. Like everyone has said, they just seem to be an extension of the penis, and the owner's seem to be real jerks. For the money they cost, they aren't that fast, I would take a porsche, an aston martin, or an m5.

Good kill mush, put the dicks in their place...behind you?

sorry had to, but seriously, good job

Ehh, that's too funny. I've actually had people try to race me in a lamborghini, but i'm too fearful of cops on the streets, and with California's strict laws on racing, it's not like i'm gonna risk having my baby slaughtered to bruise an ego.

Hope that Maserati owner gets smoked by another, less superior automobile. Dude sounds like a dork. I would've just told him the car was stock, and acted like I wondered what he was talking about.

I don't really favor the looks of the Maseratis, but it looks alright IMHO.
Going to the New York Auto Show today, possibly.
They were suppose to have the new coupe there on the show floor, along with many other cars.
Nonetheless to say, I can't wait.

Maserati is a nice car. I believe there is a guy who drives one that is identical to the pic above in town.

But props to Musashi. x10. Being an LS2 GTO fan, it totally makes my day to hear you wasted that expensive coupe. Sweet kill!

The only mods I have are the ones listed in my sig. K&N intake, SLP headers and SLP cat-back. I kept the high flow cats over race pipes, the pipes only add about 8 extra ponies but the droneing and the abnauctious garbbling sound they make! I rather have a clean healthy low tone then a riceboy sound.

-The Stig-

Mostly just for show, people thought the '04 GTO's were a bit too bland looking so for '05-06 they added some more 'Pontiac' features like the scoops and dual exhaust. Which really set the car off.

A muscle car with only one tail pipe? C'mon.... lamesauce.

AMGalltheway
04-12-2007, 05:43 PM
yeah dual exhaust is like a requirement

I would prefer the scoops farther up the hood bout 2/3 and a ram air style intake

Didn't the LS1 GTO have dual exhaust it just came out together on the left side?

-The Stig-
04-12-2007, 06:12 PM
Yeah, it did... but it looked like ass. Even though, technically the LS2's are the same way... but they just have two exhaust tips.

The V8 goes into a single pipe, then splits at the rear. Doesn't do a whole lot performance wise, but just looks leaps and bounds better.

how come no one seems to know that the old 3200GT went around Fiorano faster than a 550 Maranello?

No sweat bro, your one of the rare cool noobs so welcome to the forums.

The hood scoops are for cooling down the engine. They have a deflector built into the hood that also channels air to the intake but in stock trim the box covers most of that. The scoops do come with water cover on the inside, two rubber pieces that clip into place to keep excess dirt or water from spilling all over the engine bay and making a mess but you can take them off on a nice day out or at a competition.

You mean inside the X-pipe? yeah they cross, I dont get that! Supposedly NASCAR inspired technology or something....eh, whatever! The SLPs also has that X-pipe thing, just wider pipes.

AMGalltheway
04-13-2007, 09:53 AM
okay cool i think the x-pipes are supposed to do something with the sound or whatnot
heres a link to an article explaining exhaust a little
it's kind of long but not much on the x pipe though

no he means a Y-pipe

great kill mush man. i know it feels great to beat a car that costs about 10x more than yours. so do you remember how to launch noice? cuz i hope thats not a 1 time and not happen again kinda deal.

i've never seen a maserati in my life. evar. i guess i need to call you guys up when im in town.

AMGalltheway
04-13-2007, 12:24 PM
a y pipe is a collector from the header an x pipe has the dual pipes crossing

the article has both in it and nascar has both

Musashi3000GT
04-13-2007, 07:42 PM
My car dossent have Y-pipes. even stock it didnt have em. The headers come down to the pre cats which then go down into the midpipes ( thats where they meet) the mid pipes are two sepperate pipes running side by side. On the outside they look like two sepperate pipes anyway. If you look at it inside they do cross. They then split again and go split all the way back.
the stock and SLP midpipes are describbed as X-pipes.

so do you remember how to launch noice? cuz i hope thats not a 1 time and not happen again kinda deal.

Yeah I got over my "shity tire syndrome". I can nail a good launch but I dont like rolling on the clutch so i dont do it often. Mostly just roll onto it and short shift to 2nd cause 2nd can get real loose too.

AMGalltheway
04-14-2007, 08:05 PM
okay so your saying you have 4 into 1 collectors then the x pipe?
i was saying how the article described three y pipes from each side thus having a 4 into 2 into 1 on ech side of the engine hope fully that clears up any confusion as to what i was saying
