I just replaced an oil pan on a 96 Dodge Neon 2.0L. The owner ran over a huge rock and put a hole in the pan the size of a dime. Well before I even replaced the OIL PAN I check to make sure the engine wasn't locked up and cranked the engine for a few second, never started. So I went ahead and replaced the oil pan, refill it with oil, and tried to start it still engine spins fine but will not start won't even make a hint of trying to start, check the timing belt to see if it is spinning, it was spinning also, but I am not getting NO SPARK at all, the injectors are opening (strong smell of fuel when cranking engine).
What do you guys think the problem could be.
Any and all suggestions appreciated...
Thank you
Joe

Keep it simple at first and check all fuses and relays. Did you check for spark at the coil pack?

On my '98 it was a crankshft position sensor that failed and gave me a no start condition. Have you tried to key code the car and see if any codes pop up? Try to code and tell us what you get, Auto Zone will code for free but you need to get it there.

I recently bought a new cam position sensor assembly for our Neon, and it cost less than $30. So if that is looking cracked, its not financially ruinous. I would also suspect some of the wiring harness connections of having been cracked or sprung loose. The speedsensor connection and crankshaft position sensors are behind the engine, and hard to see.
