hi there, can anyone tell me how to replace a 'cam shaft position sensor' on a 1999 passat? i had a faulty reading on mine and i have a new one arriving, just wondered if there is anything special i need to do other than just screwing it in place and connecting it?

Two screws out (take care not to drop them into t-belt housing), remove the connector and it comes out. What codes did your sensor threw?

i tested my obd and it gave me code P1338. (i think that is the correct code i cant remember) it was camshaft position sensor ground to short or something along those lines. could it be something else or do u think it just needs replacing?

I have same error, car drives O.K. a little sluggish. Passed e-check too although had to drive it. Let me know if the error went out after you replaced the sensor.
