I'm looking to buy a 93 3000GT base model from New Orleans, its now in Wisconsin. the car has around 200k on it and the engine only has about 60k on it, was rebuilt, the only problem is that the engine has a hard knock, and the dealership says its main bearings. Would this be a hard fix? or would it not be worth buying this one? the interior was just redone and looks beautiful. it has the 5spd and they are asking $2500. any info would be greatly appreciated.

$2500 for a 93 base 3k with knock??? NO EFFIN WAY. Knocking engine means rebuild or enitre new bottom end. I would pay no more than $1000-$1500 at the very most for it.

I have a black 93 3000gt SL that i would be willing to sell. It is automatic so i don't know if you would be interested but just to let you know. It has about 53,000 miles on it. The mods include DN Performance cat back exhaust, Bomz intake with heat shield, chip, all the pioneer speakers as well as headunit, tints 35% in the front and 5% limo tint in the rear, a red mesh front grill, and a stock style carbon fiber hood with the stock black strut bumps (looks nice with the contrast) I also have to stock black one as well, brand new tranny, and brand new differential. I would be willing to discuss a price but right now I am starting at about $8,500. Guaranteed no problems!!!

I wouldn't buy any car from New Orleans...I don't care what it is, for more than $500. Mold, rust, and electrical problems are not fun to deal with. Considering this car's engine is also shot, and it has 200k on the clock, they would probably have to pay me to take it.

lol yea...:loser:
i would go on looks. Prices seem to be reasonable if theyre in good condition, so just get whichever style suits your taste. I would go with the 98 just becasue its rarer.

o hell i aint getting them, i have my 92 stealth tt, i dnt need another 3s, maybe sometime down the line, when i can afford insurance on both.
i am trying to convince my friend to buy one, he's driven mine, and he loves it' acceleration and handling, but it would b he first car. and like it states, tt arent the best first cars for multiple reasons.
the biggest reason i am for him getting one, he keeps bugging me to race these asses with their honda's, and i dnt feel like wasting gas.
i posted those cars for the guy who started this thread

Well my budget wont allow me to spend anything more then like 2k on a car right now. i just rearended a carolla, which means my daily driver is messed up and i have to sell my camaro. so i was thinkin about offering that guy about 800 for that 3K. it would need a new engine but i know some people that would do all the work for like 15 bucks.

dude...go get a civic or something.
im not meaning to insult you, but if your short on cash, a 3/s with a blown motor is the last car you wanna buy.

The only reason i dont have a lot of cash is cause i got in an accident. i got plenty of income to support it but i was thinkin if i buy one that needs a lil work i could do that and save my self some cash. and if you were not meaning to insult you could have worded it a little differently. and this one is in town. i dont have the ability to go far distances to pick up a car.

all i meant was, it may be better to buy a reliable beater until your "back on your feet" so to speak, then, when you have time and money, if you still want a 3/s, find a nice one thats been taken care of.
if you are gonna get that one, just make sure to do your homework man. 200kmi is alot, and 14yrs old is an old car. I know the engine was newer, but what about the suspension? Being that its from new orleans, the undercarrage may be nothing but rust. Look it over very well and make sure to find out whats been replaced and what will need to be replaced. Even if you plan to do the work yourself, parts are expensive for these cars, and seemingly little or cosmetic things can add up really quick, while big things can bankrupt you. 2k is not much at all.

He has paperwork from the Mitsu Dealer that says its main bearings... i know this means engine rebuild or new engine. also i know parts for these cars are expensive. but i desperately need to get rid of my p.o.s. chrysler. the car itself does run with a knock. and if i had to replace the whole bottom end does anyone know roughly a price for all this? The entire car is clean.. i looked at it this weekend. brand new interior and clean body no visible rust from any angle i looked at. so far as i can find the only thing wrong is the knock. from what i can gather its goin to be around... like 1500 or so??? just kinda shooting in the dark on that one. so any info would be helpful.

For 3 grand (obo) my friend has a 92 Dodge Stealth R/T. Its white with a red interior. I just replaced the motor and trans with a used motor from a 92, and a used trans from a 95. The motor has brand new valve stem steels, oil pump, timing belt and tensioner, water pump, plugs, and wires. The tires have under 4k miles on it. The car runs great and drives just fine except for 2 little problems. When you let off the gas you can hear what sounds like a pop in the exhaust. I haven't had a time to figure out it is as he just wants to get rid of the car now. The 2nd problem is the idle. Most of the time it is fine, but sometimes it drops off to about 300-400 rpm, then it will come back up to normal.

Dont waste your money, you will end up spending thousands upon thousands just to make the car run and look normal, take your 2 grand, get a loan for maybe 4 to 5 thousand and buy yourself a nice base model 3000gt with low miles if you want a NA but do not buy that 200K mile car, you will ultimately regret it, new exhaust, suspension, transmission, ecu, rust, alternator, timing belts, water pump, just way too many things that may need replacing which can easily throw you up in the spending 3-4 thousand dollar range not including 2k to buy the car.
