Mr. Hobby (Decal) Mark Softer stains paint?

Hi all, I know some here swarea by Mr Mark Softer. I tend to use Microsol instead. But I had a big job on a bike this last weekend and needed something stonger.

So I dusted off my bottle of Mark Softer, it did it's job well. But I found it seem to stain paint surfaces? It seem to eat into the paint and leave behind semi 'wet' looking circles on the paint surface.

This can not be polished out as it goes all the way down into paint layers.

It caused this effect on Both the Tamiya TS spray and Hiroboy's Zero paints.

I'll see if I can take a photo later today.

Anyone else had this problem?

Yes,I had the very same problem that you describe.I thought the Mr Mark Softer was not so strong either,but one time it totally destroyed one of my decals (melted it) I only use it now with caution.The Microsol and Set are a lot kinder to the decals and the paintwork.

The Mr. Mark Softer I use is made by Gunze Sanyo, is it the same stuff you are using?
I have never had a problem with it doing what is described, except occasionally with (weaker and softer) acrylic paints.

All decal solvents must be used with caution towards the strength it may attack a decal with, especially the first time it is used in conjunction with a decal you aren't sure of how it will interact with... - Mark
