2001 Sentra Keyless Remote Programming

Am having difficulty entering into the "program" mode to program a new keyless remote. After Opening, closing and locking the doors....I inserted the key 6 times within 10 seconds as suggested by the instructions. Nothing happens (the hazard lights do not flash). Will I have to go to the dealership and pay $45 to accomplish the programming?

Most dealers around here will do it for free. Ask a salesmen, not the service department.

Make sure you do the key turning portion very fast to get the vehicle to enter programming mode.

sometimes you have to go faster or slower then the instruction tell you and you may have to do it 15 times in and out of the ignition to get the lights to flash
