Fujimi 1/24 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano on HobbySearch Japan finally!!

It is finally on HobbySearch Japan. It looks very good...and for the first time in modeling industry with the overhead liner. Good job Fujimi. I will order two of 599s with the BBS RE rims and the Porsche Cayman. YEAH!!:grinyes:

It's in stock at HLJ too, but it's still on the "future" page for whatever reason.

Looks like Fujimi has a few details that beat Revell, but Revell has the engine and a more traditional chassis/suspension. The headliner detail is nice, but it might not be very visible inside the car once the glass is all installed.

Dear Fujimi: where the :swear: are the 20" Challenge rims for this car? The stock pentagram wheels look like :swear:

Hey the kit looks pretty good, would be fun to build for sure. The only thing i dont like is the dash, its molded in one piece so theres going to be alot of complex masking needed.

That doesnt worry me tho im still going to get it, lets hope Crazy Modeler's gona release some PE parts for it :D

I would always buy that over the AMT, doesn't matter if it doesn't have an engine because the Fujimi will always have a better stance (now) then any AMT kit, just what i think, i reckon many would agree with me. Im saying this because Fujimi have really improved their models lately...

Please tell us more about this AMT kit. I've never heard about it. AMT? Wow. I never knew they were doing new Ferraris. Fascinating. Tell us more!

Why don't buy the 599 from Revell Deutschland (RoG)? I think it looks way better, having a nicely molded body, full detail engine and interior and a multiparts dashboard (specially for Honny):

I do think that Revell captures the size of these Ferraris pretty well. The 612 is a big car and so is the model.

Fujimi tends to make a more precise kit. The chrome on the Revell 599 is thick, there's usually warpage, and the wheels/brakes suck.

Cos I have enough of the Rog's 612: I wanna have the chance to do a OOB one day. BTW taken Fuji from HLJ, it's cheap.

If the prices were the same I'd go Fujimi, I was able to get the Revell quicker and the Revell kit saved me about $12 vs. Fujimi once shipping is in the equation, and I can easily make it look good. I'll get a Fujimi if they offer a version w/Challenge rims if they're the correct 20" size. I hate the pentagram design wheels in either kit, so no matter what I'd be spending $$ for replacements.

But I can't wait for that AMT Fiorano :naughty: :lol:

They're close, but they're 19's and the 599 has 20's. If Fujimi tools 20's I'd get the 599, but if they were to include these I'd pass. They're a bit small inside the 599's wheelhousings.

Actually, this would not be an industry first for a molded headliner. Fujimi's Enthusiast series 365GTB/4 Berlinetta, for instance, has a separate headliner. So does Revell's 1948 Ford Woody. Many of the Mueller era AMT/Ertl kits also had headliner details including separate domelights.

It's a nice detail, though, and certainly adds an extra dimension to interior detailing. However, considering how wrong Fujimi got the Superamerica compared to Revell of Germany, I'm skeptical about their 599GTB.

The Testors CHarger and upcoming Lindberg Charger will both have full headliner detail.

I'm getting the Revell kit, the Fujimi is too expensive state side as by the time it gets to my hobby shop it will be $45, compared to $17 for the Revell AG version. I just wish someone would've tooled up something other then the pentagon wheels, they look hideous on the 599

For me it would be absolutely perfect if Fujimi release the kit with challenge rims (properly sized). For all the advantages of the Revell kit there are 10 ones for Fujimi, so I find it really hard to justify buying the revell kit, even considering the price. My biggest let-down, and I'm sorry to repeat myself, are the headlights. Revell offer a molded-in bucket and one crappy completely inaccurate tacky chrome part for the lense. You can see how Fujimi solved that on 1999. It's 10 times better. Awesome. Vents on the body also seem more accurate. The only thing where Revell really beats Fujimi are the windows: they've done a fantastic job engineering those and all credit to them for that. It's just one'd expect a company who managed to do that also do do a decent job on headlights (Scaglietti ones are very good, by the way, 430, 599 and to some extent Superamerica are appaling). The headliner and inner trim for pillars in the Fujimi kit is a nice unexpected bonus - before this it was actually Revell who offered sun visors and dome lights, but Fujimi now took it a whole step further. Now I'll be crossing my fingers for 20" BBS challenge rims.:naughty:

Slightly off topic, but still kinda on.. walking back from lunch a few minutes ago, a brand new red 599 with the challenge wheels drove by (work near a ferrari dealer).. man, it sounded beautiful and those wheels look so much nicer than the pentagrams.

Damn you are lucky!!! I saw a 512TR drive by a week ago and I about passed out! We rarely see Ferraris here in Colorado. Sucks, but we all drive Jeeps (me too). lol

I will be looking forward to seeing this kit in person since I am currently building the Revell version.

Ales: I agree with you, the Revell's headlights are a bit of a joke, but can be effectively remedied with some alu tubing and some poycarbonate rod... (I am looking forward to seeing Fujimi's take on these). The pictures show my work in progress... the headlights are not yet finished, but you get the idea.

I'd be interested in knowing your issue with the Revell's vents.... There are many more issues withe Revell kit, such as the awful front grille, the innaccurate intake manifold, the inaccurate engine cover and the terrible seats... I am dealing with those one at a time. I am sure the Fujimi version will have its share of issues too.

P.S. I am building my Revell with challenge rims.

P.P.S. I suspect the best build will be a hybrid kit-bash using both!

If you look at the side profile of the real car and the Revell body, you'll see that the vents on the front fenders are somewhat mis-shaped: you can see most of the mesh on the real car when you look at it from the side, Revell openning is noticeably more perpendicular to the side of the body.

I quite like what you've done with the headlights, and thankfully they're much easier to modify than F430 ones, but just take a look at how elegantly Fujimi solved this.

I am sure that it is going to be accurate and look great (see the ribs on parts C7 and C8?).

However, now that I look at it, I am having reservations about the separate sideskirts, but that's just whigning and nitpicking on my part :)

Thanks for the tip. The error is not so much on my particular example but I have reprofiled the openings a little. About .5mm needed shaving from the inner opening to fix it.
