cant catch that accord

here it is here we go got the 1988 accord lx 2.0l

i know this isnt the tech chat but i figured my kind would have better answers than those kids who dont know the diff between a wrench and pliers...

so i'm tryin to pump her up about 150hp, w/ a 20shot of nitrous. i heard you could upgrade the carb on the 88 and have a nitrous compatable hookup, but havent gotten any details(have you?)

and as far as juice'n her up 150hp more, no ideas besides the small 10hp exhaust, 20hp carb, etc - so for all my greasers, any ideas are welcome(5hp-150hp ideas that is)

I dont know about some of these guys but what I would do first is get one of those large fins on the back. You will surely need this to keep the ass end down.

The next thing is get stickers any kind of stickers that are for racing that is. Make sure you put the stickers on fender right behind both of the rear wheels. That way it helps keep the weight ratio where it need to be.

You will need at least the front end portion of a body kit. If you can get a whole kit that's even better. The colors really dont have to match and to be honest 88 Accords would rather not have the same color. Adds to the hot rod effect.

Now with all that you should be able to keep your car under control with the new found power...

Performance time, The only thing I suggest is to just go ahead and throw a 150 shot in it. You will be going down the road for sure.....Get pics and let us know how things go.....

so if you have any useful tips on how to do small to large hp gains through bolt-on mods, upgradeing parts(carb, exhaust, all that) it would be GREATLY apprechiated

but if you think that this is a post from a kid who wants a big ass spoiler cause he "needs it not to flip" and wants an intake kit "cause that adds like 30hp man!" you can go add some more stickers to your car so itll go faster when you're gettin had by 3 cars length in second gear

You're not going to get much out of that motor, there isn't much aftermarket support on the older Honda carbureted engines.

You'll end up spending way to much and not getting anything of worth out of it. You're better off just keeping it stock and finding something else to tinker on in my honest opinion.

this car is gonna be cut clean, puttin leather on the inside, hid lights on the outside, of course 6 200w speakers(2 tweeters, 2 mid range, gonna get 1 15" sub), black wet paintjob - like i said, im just looking for a clean car with about 250hp for some "fun"

Why waste time with an LT1. Just do an LS1 Swap. Shit, its been swapped into everything else.

-Carb upgrade
-Exhaust upgrade
-Blow-through turbo

All towards the goal...250hp(w/0 nitrous)

Um... nope, sounds like you've got it all covered. Have at it!

there is no way that your going to gain over 100% in hp without forced induction or a power adder.

bolt ons will give you like 20-30 hp tops, and thats being very generous. why not just run a 75 shot of nitrous and just call it a day?

i think youd have to beef up the engine before you go above 250or300 and/or a 50 shot but imo i would find a different car to work on

why dont you just spray the piss outta it, the most you can. tune if for what you can and w/o, as you want to do a blow through turbo setup. see what a 100shot would do, just because.

then just swap in a b series motor or something. its been done enough times, and you'd have so much aftermarket support in the mean time.

I like Chiquae's idea almost as much as mine.

Thats actually not to bad. B serries are all over the place, and the aftermarket is almost as big, if not bigger than, the SBC market. Part one is definately gettin my vote. Just set up a cheap ass DIY Nitrous kit, cut the exhaust, and dump all the spray you can into it for a single pass, have fun and laugh with friend's after the motor blows up (AND GET IT ON TAPE!!!), then drop in a nice B16 or B18.

now that you mention it that sounds great you could do meth or something for greater combustion effects then get a motor

You wont get anything out of that motor. Get at least a newer car with better tuning potential. NO2 plus and old motor will not end well. Dont get stuck on this car. Unless you got tons of money to throw around, get something thats been tested already.
