Ok, me and my two brothers have decided to build a scratch built(mostly) open wheeler, its a 1/24th scale, mix between a f1 and f3 type car.

Gotta love those replies?!?!?!?!!?
Looks interesting. Blender is a tricky app some times. You might want to widen the front track width. It looks a bit to narrow for the rears to follow. Cool idea though. You guys doing 100% scratch then?! Whatya going to name it?

Well, first yes i did relize after posting this it was in the wrong area:banghead:
second, its 3ds max.
thirdly, no its not 100% scratch built, dont have the time, money, or tools to do it. The chasis, body, are defently going to be scratch built, but the motor, and wheels are going to be from either a combo of different models or a mix of pre made and modified. ie the wheels i have are f1 mini-z wheels
the engine will be either a modified viper block or a benz c9 lemans modified motor.
ok, thats all i got for now.
thanks guys

HAHA, yeah, oh well...
Anyone have suggestion on making disc breaks from scrach, other then machining, or casting?
thanks

Laminar styrene. You can make either a rotor or a caliper by stacking cross-sectional patterns.

I've split the posts debating the definition of scratch built to a new thread so this one stays on track. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=692183

Styrene sheet, with styrene strips between the two parts for vented rotors.

ok here's an idea i came up with for the brake discs, its two 5/16th washers, and a 5/16 locking washer glued together, im gonna try 1/4 locking washer so the slots meet the edges of the outside two washers better.

Ok i lurked enough LOL
I don't want to be offensive, so see my comments from the right side. Also I'm not an engineer, anyway I guess to understand something of motorsport at almost 40 years.
It seems you have some scratchbuilding techniques, but the whole project look a bit ad-libbed to me: following my thought
- since 20-25 or more years ago open wheelers have structural monocoques, no matter to think the double weight of a body shell and a frame.
- you love to do a space frame? it's ok! but: from ages engines was used as structural elements, backing sunspensions (rear but not ever LOL). Also side bellys haven't the needs of a frame: you have to place there just radiators/intercoolers.
Sorry for the awful english, it happen more when I'm a bit sick.
