2002 Monte doesn't start

I am getting no turnover/spark whatsoever when I turn the key.
The headlights and interior lights all come on but all I hear is the fuel pump running (I think).

I thought it may have been electrical, so hooked it up to a charger overnight and that didn't work.

Any suggestions?

any help is appreciated.

Welcome to AF, you mean the engine will not crank or it cranks but will not fire?

My apologies, I am no car buff.

When I turn the key I get absolutely nothing, no crank, no fire, just lights.
Dash lights, headlights, and interior lights.

Ok, does the security lite stay on for more than 5 seconds? Battery cables all clean and tight?

When I get home, I will try to start her again and check to see if the security light statys on like you said.
I have not checked the battery cables yet, I will make sure they are tight and clean. I was also told to check the ground on the starter.

Hypothetically, if my cables are clean, and the security light stays on what do you think my problem is?

***UPDATE***

Just FYI for all

I got home and the same problem persisted. Turn the key and nothing, no turnover, no spark, just the lights and radio come on.

So, I noticed when turning the key I could hear what I think was the fuel pump running.
I turned the key and held it in the START position. After about three - four seconds I heard that the fuel pump noise stopped.
I let go of the key and the lights and radio came on then shut the car off again.

I waited about ten - fifteen seconds, tried to satrt her up again and she fired right away as if nothing had ever been wrong.

And now I have been driving on it for three days with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Any suggestions as to what may have caused this?

I rec'd one that said it may be the cylinoid (sp?) on the starter.

Anyways, thanks.
