High Idling

My 3.4L D.O.H.C is reving high just below 3000 rpm's as soon as i start it. It eventually works it way down, but it does this only when its cold and once it warms up it idles normally.
I was thinking its a vaccum or intake leak.
Any imput is appreciated

How about a failed/failing cold start sensor?
a vac leak isnt hardly going to just go away because it is warm

i was not able to find any part called a cold start sensor, but could it be a temp sensor or IAC doing this

Today i checked for codes and code 13 (oxygen sensor circuit (open circuit) and Code 35 ( Idle speed error replace IAC).
Can either of these parts case high idle. (2500-3000rpm)
Also my engine is leaking a fair amount of oil near the lower part of engine. When the intake manifold gaskets are gone does it leak oil, or are these head gaskets. (when engine is warm idle is normal).
any advice would be appreciated.

ok first things first
Dissconnect your battery
pull off your IAC and CLEAN IT, along with any other junk thats in that little buggers hole.
then connect your battery, take key to start(just befor it usly cranks over) position 5times each time let the fuelpump do its thing then take the key back to where you can remove it wait 15seconds and repeat
usly your car WILL idle high 2500rpmsish for 2-3min then back down when IT IS COLD
if it continues a 3,000race pace l would think the sence that is behind your upper intake(near firewall) maybe going maywire DONT do tearing into these 2 electronic parts both of them have a VAC hoses that are VERY BRITTLE and a big pain in the ass if you bust them.
consult your manual if your dont know how to remove or replace them

I have figured out that the high idling is caused by failing intake gaskets.

A common oil leak on your car is the oil pump drive o-ring. It's essentially a distributor with the top cut off that is located in the center of the block and can be seen (barely) under the throttle body. It is a 2 minute job to replace while you have the intake off replacing the intake gaskets, and requires removal of the upper pleunum and throttle body to replace if not done when the intake is off. It will leak oil down the side of the block and will appear to be a rear main or oil pan leak to someone not familiar with this engine.
