Whats up dashingMax. I'm a Napervillian too. From the North Side. Do you cruise through the downtown area with your Max?

I am from the poor south side. 95th & Naperville/Plainfield Road.

I take Metra to work everyday from the Naperville station and I go through downtown Naperville everyday. I haven't yet gone down there just for crusing.

If you're going to be down there for something, I can join you. Maybe we can show-off the power of a family sedan to those Civic punks!! :-)

Cool, I used to have a friend over there, between 87th and 95th st on Naper Plainfield. I live way on the other side, by Ogden and Washington, Pretty close to the train station actually. I don't take the train though, I drive to work. My dad takes the train everyday. By the way, did you get your Maxs from Gerald Nissan?

MAXIMASE2000

Welcome another fellow Max owner from Illinois. Alot of those punks out there driving their civic, cavalier and integra want to outrun our Max.
They think they got the fastest car on earth.

I live in Dekalb for now, but I go to visit my sister in Woodridge once in a while , so if there is somethink going on in Naperville, let me know plz, hehe.

Yesterday I saw the baddest license plates in america :

It was a BMW M3 , modified from top to bottom, the plates where

HNDA KILER

LOL , I was laughing at this for at least 10 minutes :)

You are right!

Those Civic and Prelude punks wanted to race me a couple weekends ago. I was riding my 2000 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle and I completely smoked him. He was driving with his girlfriend and must've been pretty embarrased in front of her...

I still cannot fathom the fact that he wanted to race a sport bike!!

Oh well... They are dying to race anybody... :D

I went there 2 days ago to get my O2 sensor replaced , oil changed and filter. I dunno if their prices are good, so I was wondering if 220$ for the o2 sensor replacement is alot of money or what ??? My check engine light is off now, and my RPM is not jumpy as before so I'm happy. I'm just wondering how much $$$$ did I overpaid.

dashingMax
09-28-2001, 01:50 PM
My personal experience with Gerald Nissan's service is negative :-(

My mom drives a Subaru Outback and I own 2 Maxima SE's. I always go to Gerald Nissan & Subaru in North Aurora. A little more driving distance but the service and quality of work is EXCELLENT!!

They too are Gerald, but since they are brand new, they WANT YOUR BUSINESS...unlike Naperville Gerald who does not give a damn...

Cyko
09-28-2001, 02:18 PM
Is it visible from I-88 ??? Thats where I went. They did a good job, I'm just wondering about the price :) Someone told me the o2 sensor is like 70 $ brand new, so 240 $ is kinda expensive :(

dashingMax
09-28-2001, 02:21 PM
Yes, it is visible from I-88. There are a bunch of dealerships right next to each other.

In fact you have to pass a Dodge dealer to get to Nissan & Subaru...

AP20thMax
09-28-2001, 03:35 PM
Whats up guys. I bought my car from Gerald Nissan, the Naperville one on Ogden. I thought they gave me a good deal on the car. My parents were so happy with my car that they went and bought their own. They actually paid under invoice for my their Max. I'm really getting ticked off by Gerald now. They tell me they will void my warranty if I put on a new muffler. The service dept is really getting on my nerves. I might just have to take a little ride west on 88 to the Aurora Gerald.

As for those rice burners. Some of them are fast but to take on a bike, forget it. I don't care how fast your car is, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BEAT A CROTCH ROCKET. I hang out with a lot of the biker guys from downtown Naper, and they all got like Ducatis, GXRs, and Superhawks 996. They tell me they will destroy any car that wants to race. They say most cars don't even want to race, they recognize.

Most of the dealer charge you a fortune for what ever they done on your car. If anything going on to my car I just take it to my buddy so he can take a look at it because he's a mechanic but he's only free on the weekend.:o :D

Northwest subs here, just started the modification process a couple months back.

AFTER TWO MONTHS:
Clear corners
Real aluminum dash
97-99 Altezza Taillights
Superwhite headlights
Neo blue underbody Streetglow kit

IN THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING:
I've bid on a Vortech VQ2 supercharger at around $2000, but if that falls through, then the money's going to a Stillen Aero Kit and a new head unit.

Let me know if we decide to round up the Illinois maxima owners and have a meet.

I know some Maxima guys that would be interested too. I think we could get a good turnout.

By the way, I got my exhaust done today. I put a Magnaflow exhaust on the Max and it is loud. I had no idea it would be this loud. I like it.:)

How much did you paid? You are saying exhaust, Is it rear section near the tail pipe? I don't know much about exhaust.:frog:

AP20thMax
10-01-2001, 12:06 PM
I had the rear section done. The 20th Max has an I30 muffler which is really kind of ugly. The pipes are downward facing and there isn't any tips. I put a magnaflow muffler on it to give it a better look and sound. Its nice and shiny too. It didn't cost that much either. The guy hooked it up for me, everything was under $300.

MAXIMASE2000
10-01-2001, 12:53 PM
I noticed that the 20th AE MAX with the tail pipe facing downward. At first when I saw AE Max I though someone bought a gxe and put in the ground effect. But when I went to the dealer I noticed that all AE Max are the same with ugly tail pipe. Good that you replaced with a new one.

The funny thing is that I didn't even notice the ugly muffler until I brought the car home for the first time. I thought the muffler should at least have the chrome exhaust finisher that the normal SEs have. The old brochure even said that the 20 Edition should have chrome tips. I guess they changed it though. I'm not sure why they would leave the muffler like that. Maybe is is because of the aero kit. There isn't a big opening under the bumper for pipes to stick out.:silly2:

MAXIMASE2000
10-01-2001, 11:41 PM
When you paid that much of money for a car, they should at least give you a decent muffler.:flamer:

20th maxstyle
10-02-2001, 07:59 PM
the ugly muffler is designed to be a replica of how the Skyline GT-R R33 works. the muffle has a valve that opens up after a certain rpm. The muffler might be ugly, but it's just as good if not better than after market mufflers. It's almost like nissan's version of V-TEC. difference the location of the valve.:eshooter:

AP20thMax

Hey 20th maxstyle,
I thought that the muffler has designed to give you a quiet ride at low rpms but when you hit it, the valve opens and then you get more air flow. If an after market muffler maximizes air flow at all rpms, it would seem like I don't lose much. Do you think I actually slowed my car down by putting on an aftermarket muffler and replacing some of the pipes?

20th maxstyle
10-04-2001, 09:23 AM
If there was a gain, it was probably only around 2-3 hp, but at least our rides look PHAT.

Well, even if there is nobody else comming I could probably meet you in Naperville next weekend for a couple of hours , talk about the mods to come , improvments and so on......... Today I started this creazy project of mine  (I REALLY LOVE MY CAR) ... I'm putting 1000W loud speakers in the back and a Infinity Perfect 12.1 Sub. I took out all the seats in the car and I saw that my carpet in the car was dirty. So with my CYKO brain, I took all the carpeting out from my car directly to my shower , heheh lol. It wasn't easy and it's gonna take me some time before I'll put everything back where it was. Well, what can I say, we just love those damn cars. Right now I'm cruising with 1 seat in the car, the rest in metal :smoker2: I vaccumed every little corner , but my speakers and amp and sub are still in the garage. Wish me luck, I'll need it to put all the screws at the right place. :bloated:
