Wonky Windshield Wipers

Hi all... 98 Dodge Caravan, 170K km on it... windshield wipers are not working correctly on the intermittant cycle... sometimes they continue going and sometimes they don't work at all. Twice we have had the wipers continue operating after the van has been shut down for a minute or more.

Any suggestions where to look. When the wipers were not working when we bought the van 2 years ago, the dealer replaced the body computer on it. Hopefully this is not going again because they are a pain in the butt to find.

Thanks!
Stan

On my '96, it was the wiper motor module that lives in the plenum in front of the wind shield on drivers side. I had to take the plenum apart, pull the module apart, and clean the gunk out of the insides, this fix worked for about three years and now it is time to do it all over.

How hard would this be to do? Is is something which would take a couple of hours or am I looking at a day or more to do this?

99 model:
I just had the wiper arms and plastic cover over the wiper linkage off to see if my linkage was messed up. If you have to remove the linkage to get to the part he is talking about, I would guess you are talking about more than a 2 hour project.

Yes you have to take the wipers off and the intake shield (that plastic piece in front of windshield glass) to access the motor module. The module comes out and you turn it over and remove the torx screws, open module and clean out the gunk. I believe I sent the procedure via e-maIL and it does take some time.
