Stereo question

I have a 1997 1500. I discovered that the factory CD player won't play CDs that I burn from my computer. I'd like the ability to do that but would like the truck to look "somewhat original", meaning no adapters hanging out of the tape deck or a Kenwood or Pioneer deck, which brings me to my question. If I went to my local salvage yard and picked up a radio with a CD player out of a 2003 or so, would it fit and would the normal wiring harness fit? I realize I'd still have my separate CD player at the bottom of the dash that probably wouldn't be hooked up, but I don't remember the last time I played a cassette and it would be a nicer look to replace my radio with cassette with a newer factory model that had a CD that could handle the format of my burned discs.

Check the instructions for the burner software on your computer. Sounds like you are making a "data cd" vs an "audio cd". Unless of course you are wanting to play mp3s which a different matter entirely.

I got a Sony mp3 player from Crutchfield.com that has "truck" written all over it. 139.00 with included factory match harness and install kit. Took fifteen minutes to install.

If it is mp3 you want to play convert the files to WAV audio files and they will play in anything.

It's an audio CD, although I believe I may have bigger problems, I put a normal CD that I had purchased at the store in the player and it kicks out too. I think I'm going to try a lens cleaner and see if my unit may just be dirty.

and I'm Trying To Install A New One, Which Have Never Done Before In My Life.

problem Is There Is So Many Wires. Purple Wire, Yellow, Red, Black, Green, Green With White Stripe, Green With Black Stripe, Green With Yellow Stripe, White With Black Stripe, And A Blue With Red Stripe.
