I'm really tired of my slow ass problematic car. and hearing crap when my tall ass gets out of a camaro,so i want a new vehicle....question...should i get save up 7000 this summer and get a bike, or save up 7000 for a down payment on a $17,000 SVT lightning. and possibly struggle next school year. my fate is in your hands.......discuss

Lightning.

The truck would be more practical than a bike. If you don't have an extra vehicle, I'd say get the Lightning. But if you do and don't mind riding the bike only a handful of times during the year (depending on where you live and the weather), then get the bike. For more practical reasons, I think I'd pick the Lightning.

If you get the crotch rocket you'll still need another vehicle for bad weather and when you want to move stuff. I wouldn't consider the bike unless you have extra money to blow on a play toy.
I don't have any experience with lightning so I'm not going to comment on them.

right! my plan was to keep the maro if i got the crotch rocket
and balls, jus so ya know,
the lightning is a better looking f-150 tuned by SVT, with a loud beautiful s/c that goes about as fast as a LS1 camaro.

i'd still say get the lightning. practical, drivable reliable.
and it's the world's fastest production pickup, at 137mph.
the problem with a bike is that you can't ride them so often, and you can only ride them for pleasure (in most cases) because you can't carry anything. you can't take it to the store to buy food or anything. and if you got one and kept the camaro you'd be paying two insurance policies, and paying the costs to fuel/tyres/servicing/ on two vehicles.
if you sell the camaro and buy a lightning you've got speed, practicality, one insurance police etc.. and you can carry all kinds of stuff. my mate's brother has one over here and when it was stock he used it for carrying engines and stuff around. we could get two big blocks in there with no problem.
i just think the lightning is more sensible. (and i like last-gen F-150s.)

Its hard sometimes to get a stock truck to hook up, how the hell do they get a truck that can easily have 500+hp to hook up worth a damn?? :screwy:

Since when in the hell do you consider a Ford Lightning practical? Probably one of the least practical vehicles around (indicated by the sales volume). Can't haul much in it, sucks in rain, don't even discuss the snow...
A bike is economical, but not practical either... unless you're using it to commute to a job that's not a suit and tie type job. Can't drive it in the rain (or at least you'd be nuts to do it), forget snow, and anything under 50-60% is just dumb.. have to wear so much gear to keep warm it's almost dangerous. The gear to keep you safe if a wreck will run you 1500-2000 all by itself, assuming you think you're head's worth the cost of a helmet, you hands are worth the cost of gloves, etc.
If you're looking for a screwing around vehicle (which is what it sounds like) there's more out there than what you've listed. Jeeps are cheap and can take some abuse, if you buy a bike, buy a used one... say an 04-05 model... still new, won't have many miles, and you won't be paying a premium for a new bike.

WHAT?!? $20K... you can't find anything for under 20K? Are you nuts?
Early 70's Corvette? You can pick up a NICE one for $15 or so, at least around here you can. Pick up an autotrader, all kinds of shit in there. You need to narrow the purpose down and THEN look, a sport-truck or crotch rocket? Looks like you just started thinking of stuff, not what really suits your purpose.
What do you mean you're tall? You're not like 7'10" or anything are you??? There's all kind of att-people shit you can get into with that kind of budget.
Keep in mind... REALLY tall guys on sportbikes look goofy. No offense, it's kinda like looking at a clown on one of those mini-bikes.

i know what that means.
why can't a stock performance truck hook up?
when i drove a stock one on warm tyres it took off just fine. still hooked up fine when it was making 620bhp with a smaller pulley and some other mods.

Hmmm... 13.5's or under less than 20k... NEW? Bike.
CBR 1000 RR - $10,000 new
Ninja ZX11 - $11,000 new
Interceptor 850 (Almost bought one before RD) - $9500 new
YZF R1 - BAD BIKE!
Although a 1000cc might be a bit much, they're built a little better. 750 MIght be a decent option figure around $7500 - $8000 new.
A Mini might get you under 13.5's if you get the hopped up version, but they're more than $20k, and you WOULD look like a clown getting out of that.
2.2 - You were in a 620BHP pickup that had no problem hooking up??? He obviously had something done to the suspension.... My 97 Z71 couldn't hold pavement on the slightest incline, and that was totally stock except for a cat-back exhaust and cigarette burns in the back seat. Are you sure that thing was stock? Pick-up trucks are notorious for light ass-ends, if you throw ANY kind of power at them you'll be doing burnouts all day, especially the sport versions.

Not to encourage anything here, but my friend has an 06 Stang GT and he is 6'8". He fits in it fine. Shit, when I am in the passenger seat, I feel like I would be a little too short to drive it. Guess I'm just not used to the visibility.

You're gonna get a Duke for under $20k... NEW? Wasn't aware they were that cheap. (Is that a Ducatti or a Triumph?) Anyway the Speed Triple is a totally god-damned bad-assed bike. You're going for the upscale side of bikes.... (golf clap).
There is no such thing as a tall people car. :grinno: There's cool / fast cars and there's not cool / fast cars. :grinyes: A 9 second minivan is cool and fast no matter how dumb it looks. :smooch:
For 20K, A triumph would be decent (I've heard about reliability issues on some of them) or an old hot rod that someone has lost interest in would be a decent move. **Imagine rolling in a 32 Ford**
If you've got 7k to play with... I'd buy a Ninja or CBR and have a tiny loan payment, rather than go broke over a piece of transportation. :2cents: OR pul a Dylan and find one of those $100 beaters that will NOT die and never has an issue for a DD and get whatever you want for a play vehicle.

as far as i know it was stock back there. all it had were some new tyres. (not DRs, either.)
there was a tiny bit of wheel slip (slip, not spin) for about 12" then you felt it like a kick up the ass and you were on your way. it was fierce then, it's even faster now. (teehee.. 520 big-blocks..)
