This coming from the guy that said it was the new Si?

Sigh - now go and research before you throw away comments like that.

Finally, if you still don't believe me, here's an idea: Go to Honda Japan's site for the current CTR - look up it's specs. Gee, what does it say? K20A

Here's the link, straight through the translator at altavista:

http://world.altavista.com/sites/auen/pos/babelfish/urltrurl?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.honda.co.jp%2FCIVICTYPE-R%2Fspecifications%2Findex.html

Better ring them and tell them they got it wrong too

compression ratio - 11.0:1
claimed crank hp - 200hp @ 7400rpm
claimed crank torque - 145 lb-ft @ 5900rpm

want anymore info?

Gee, Honda Japan must be wrong - or have you considered that the engine in the JDM varient may be different to the Euro CTR? As in the SiR had 160ps in its B16A compared to the Euro VT's 150bhp B16A1.

I can't see Honda putting out misleading information - the only other factor could be that the A was in a few test cars and they then refined it and redesignated it a C.

But, I notice that Honda Japan also lists the current ITR as running the K20A along with the iS and I noticed a few mentions of it being put forward as a possible CRV engine. The difference lay in compression ratios etc. Once again though, these are the JDM spec vehicles.

Honda Japan's data sheet is here :

*NOTE-THERE ARE PROBABLY SOME OTHER CORRECT ANSWERS*
1. B20A5=88-91 Honda Prelude
2. VG30DETT=Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo
3. F2T=MazdaMX6 GT turbo
4. 5SFE=Toyota Camry, non turbo MR2
5. F20C1=Honda S2K
6. RB26DETT= Nissan Skyline GTR (R32,R33,R34)
7. 13BTT=93-95 twin turbo Mazda RX7 (in the US at least ;) )
8. 3SGTE=Toyota MR2 turbo, All trac Celica (GT Four)
9. C32A=Acura Legend
10. SR20DET=Nissan Silvia S13,S14,S15
11. B17A1=92-93 Acura Integra GS-R
12. 20BTT=Mazda Cosmo triple rotor-twin turbo
13. 4G63T=the turbo DSMs (Mitsu.Eclipse GS turbo,GST,GSX, Eagle Talon TSi,TSi AWD, Plymouth Laser etc.)
14. 2JZGTE=Toyota Supra twin turbo(93.5-98 in US)
15. EJ20T=Subaru Impreza turbo (wrx)
16. 6G72TT= Mitsubishi 3000GT (GTO) VR-4, Dodge Stealth R/T twin turbo

20. F20B=JDM Accord SiR
21. B16B=JDM Honda Civic Type R (EK9)
22. 13BT=Mazda RX7 Turbo (pre 93)

Well, I think that Setanta pretty much won the proverbial cookie...so enjoy it pal ;) :p :) anyways- I'm almost postive that #17 is the '02+ Honda Integra Type R.....www.jdmhondaparts.com says so anyways
Setanta: your #11 was a little broad. Since the engine code had a suffix, it has to be a US motor and car obviously. So...it wouldn't be a Honda Integra...but an Acura Integra. that's getting a little picky tho. you didn't say what model integra..and it was the 92-93 GS-R. The only other one that i dont agree with is your #11. you said that Honda Inspire..i might be wrong..but i've never heard of that before..i've heard of the Honda Insight. anyways...the G25A is found in the USDM Acura Vigor, and it's a 5 cylinder. You still did the best and you got yourself a cookie...so eat up-u deserved it:)

I know this is a really old thread guys but I just wanted to add something. the K20A is a 1st generation base model rsx motor 160hp.

Fishcat37
11-06-2002, 02:31 PM
The K20A is the JDM 2002+ Honda Integra Type R. Apparently also, according to this article (http://asia.vtec.net/article/k20a/) , the K20A was the first ever DOHC i-VTEC motor Honda produced, and it was found in the Honda Stream. Anyone know anymore about this?

hybridsol
11-06-2002, 04:45 PM
the K20a is a base model rsx the K20C is a type s rsx, I know this b/c Ive torn one apart and, the engine code on the block is a K20A The type S we dropped in my friends 02 civic was a k20C.

www.jdmhondaparts.com just got a JDM DC5 Honda Integra Type R (2002 model i believe). They also sell the K20A motor- here's the pic:
http://www.jdmhondaparts.com/engines/K20A-R.jpg I do believe that a different version of the K20A came in the Honda Stream. You are right about the K20C being the Acura RSX Type S motor, tho.

yeh, lol I think they ran into a problem because JDM motors dont have suffixes. so i guess they have two very different motors with same engine code...:( that's kind of dumb. The JDM GSR motor is stamped "B18C" and the JDM Type R motor (pre 2002) is stamped B18C as well. The only way that you can tell the difference besides taking off the valve cover, etc. is to look at the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. Come to think of it, there might be P72 stamps (for GSR), and P73 stamps (for Type R) on the head...so maybe that's how you tell the difference. Anyways, I think it's dumb not to use suffixes in Japan....but use them in USDM and EDM motors:cool:

Hey, everybody. This is my first time on your site, and I must say it looks very nice. :ylsuper. Tons of info here...completely dwarfs the 323 forum I frequent (course, that's model specific). Anyway, as I was surfing around, I caught this link and decided to check it out. I noticed that you Honda boys and girls haven't kept up to date on your Mazda motors....the 13B was used in ALL RX-7s from 1987-1995, and it was called simply the 13B, both turbo and N/A versions. Other than that, the list seems correct (save for the overuse of the letter 'T' to denote turbo motors, when there is none in the code....EJ20 [no 'T'], 4G63 [no 'T']) . A few more for you: anyone heard of a B6/B6E, BPT, B6-ZE, KL-ZE, ZL-VE. If you get these I'll be very impressed. And be forced to rescind my previous statement :) .

Here are the K-series engines since there seems to be a bit of a disagreement as to which cars possess which engine. I don't know if they have changed any engines for 2004 or 2005.

K20A '01-'03 Honda Integra (JDM), '02-'03 Honda Civic Type-R (JDM)
K20A2 '01-'03 RSX Type-S (USDM)
K20A3 '01-'03 RSX base model (USDM), '02-'03 Civic Si (USDM)
K24 '02-'03 CR-V (USDM)
