I have a 97 CVPI. Until yesterday, I have had no problems with it. When I started the car after work, it started to run rough. About two or three miles down the road the check engine light started to flash. I stopped at an autozone on the way home to have them check what the engine light was on for. It read, "Clyinder 8 Misfire." I purchased spark plugs at autozone, and replaced spark plug number 8. The car is still running rough, and the check engine light is still on. I am trying to fix it without spending tons of money. Do you think that I should change the plug wires or do you think it may be something else, something more expensive? Any ideas as to what it may be/ prices? Thanks for your input, and time.

What spark plug wires are on there and how old are they? They dont happen to say motorcraft 1997 on them do they ? Does the car jerk and ping under mild acceleration when its changing gears?

I figured out the problem, it was the coil.
