I recently purchased a wrecked Hyundi Tiburon and the car does not have that much damage, in the front only. I have the car complete now but my tranny will not shift out of 2nd gear its an automatic. Is this a electrical problem or what. The dealer ran the car and it came back with no trans problems. What could cause this not to shift out right. Please help

not that it means anything coming from me, but an automatic transmission is like a 500 pound wrist watch, if something is wrong with it and the dealers cant figure it out, then it has to be replaced out right, there is not much repair work you can do to an AT, except check the fluid and/or change it....

I had the same problem with a 1999 Tiburon I had to take it to the dealer 3 times for them to find it when it wont shift from second it' in bypass mode and they had to replace the controll modual. Does it shift hard when you shift frome drive to reverse?

I recently purchased a 1999 Tiburon as well with only 56,000 miles on it and about two weeks later I drove it to Florida on a 7 day vacation When I reached the Florida line my Tiburon's check Engine light came on it is an automatic and has no history of problems. Yet it seemed like I was driving a manual trans and the gears did not want to shift. I went to Hyndaui in Florida and they after taking four days to fix it gave me a quick fix by putting two transmissions in and doing some other maint I then drove it back to NC wwhere I am stationed and about two weeks later the same problem again I took it back to the Hyndaui Dealership I purchased from and explained my problem they then took it in ran some test put some new parts on it and gave it yet another quick fix not a month or two later I tried to drive home to Florida again however I didn't make it their and it was during the Christms time frame being that I was on a four day Holiday and no one was open I had to get it towed back to NC yes again the Same Problems I brought It back to the dealer again where they put another Trans and some other new parts this was in a period of buying the car Oct 25 and not even the end of Dec. I deployed to Iraq on 4 Jan and didn't drive the car again except for the neighbors taking it around the block and they experienced the same problem around May and I asked them to rtake it in they then fixed more things and ran more tests. I arrived back in NC on 28 Jun I had some problems again in Aug and took it back at this time it was right at is 60,000 mile warranty However I do have the extended.... At this point I started to become concerned that they were not helping me fix the problem I talked to everyone at the dealear ship and they ran many tests they had my car for about two weeks before they finally talked to their maintenance dept and assured it was an electrical problem HERE IS THE CATCH they couldn't however pin point they exact electrical problem and this was stated by all who were there managers and all it was discussed that their was no way to fix the problem.. Upset I told them there was no reason for me to have this car they then wanted to make deals trying to get me in another car but everycar in their lot was too over priced due to the fact I was going to have to pay off my previous loan tacked on to the one I needed to get BS right. I am not trying to trade in my car I Love it it just has some serious sickness.. They did yet another quick fix and it has been about a month and a half no long trips at all and I am experiencing it again............
I have all documents and everything of all this and I really need to know what to do It has just now been a year since I purchased it and I haven't even been able to drive it that long ....
Or is it just that I am a Young Female Marine and they are trying to pull one over?????????????????????????????

since your in the marines your going to get all kinds of dealers fixing it temporarily and then when you complain they will try to sell you another car. I deploy in feb to the navy and the last thing I tell people is that I am in the service because they mess with you and your car to get you to buy. try going to another dealer with out mentioning the marines and maybe they will help you. try leaving any service info out until your going to buy something. could be the electronic shifting control unit but without having the right tools its hard to say. All I can say is good luck. Try buying a chilton's car guide and maybe it will help you.

u got all the documents and stuff rite?
try finding out who's the boss of the managers.
if they don't help u out at all.
threaten them with a law suit.
get them in the paper.(that'll hurt them a lot)
say to them, that in your contract, it was said that a warranty was to be provided.
if they do not fix this problem before the warranty runs out, tell them it's your right to take this to the courts or if they dont' want any probelms,
they could just give u a extended warranty and fix it real quick.
u'd hav to be forceful about it cuz these "hyundai" dealers are a bunch of faggots who are bitter because they didn't get to work for porsche or bmw.
basically ur screwed unless u take some legal action.
good luck
