Transmission leak

My daughters 97 Cabrio has been sitting for a few days and I noticed a puddle under the drivers side just below the transmission. It's not red like auto trans fluid. Seems to be dripping from the skid plate that is there to protect the transmission. Looks like engine oil but the dipstick reads ok. Could it be gear lube? In an automatic transmission? Right now it's freezing out, any ideas???
