I've been searching for a proper radar detector to get for my Z...but everything thing that I have read on some detectors have a different detector as the best for each printing! So I am taking any suggestions people have on what is the best radar detector to get.

I've recently done EXTENSIVE research and the BEL 980 and Escort Passport 8500 are beating the Valentine ONE. I was a big V1 fan until my cousin got one, it's so heavy it is hard to keep it mounted, plus it's HUGE, it looks like a VCR on the dash or something :)

And after researching it, I am a bigger fan of the BEL 980 right now, it's doing better against photo-radar too. The Passport is not exactly my taste but still excellent.

Dang, good point dude! Back when I did the research I wasn't concerned with it.

I always thought it would be a good idea to build a radar detector that looked like a portable CD player. That way if you didn't hide it fast enough, the cops wouldn't get mad. Also you'd have a good reason to mount it on the dash - to avoid skipping. ;)

I got a new valentine 1 for my z last week. I can't believe how well it works.I drove to cincinnati today and it never missed. It would give me huge amounts of time to adjust speed.I took the car to a stereo shop and they ran the power through the headliner it comes out neatly on the right side of the rear view mirror. It is a phone jack type wire that easly disconnects so that I can put it in a diffrent vehicle. All the accesories come with the unit, for a hard wire to the car of choice and a second cigarete option for easy transfer to another vehicle. It cost me 406 bucks deliverd to my front door. I highly recommend this valentine one .Happy holidays Dave.
