Hey, I haven't really done an update on my car since I've finished the turbo install. I've been busy enjoying it and perfecting the setup. Basically this update is just showing how far my car has changed in the past year. I took a couple new pics yesterday. So, leave me some comments and tell me what u like, dislike, what sucks, or w/e.

Engine:

So every body knows I converted the 4g64 to turbo, heres the list of crap I did:

-Cheap pacesetter header (on the 2nd one, cause 1st one broke after 3 weeks, second one was free though (warranty))
-14b turbo from your moderator thor06
-1g bov
-16g turbo install kit (stainless oil feed, dick pipe (j pipe),gaskets, bolts and crap)
-tapped the factory oil pan for the return line
-ran the coolant lines for the turbo from the throttle body return
-N1 downpipe
-factory catback with no cat
-450cc injectors from pr_ricer or blk_srt or w/e his SN is now, thanks!
-Walbro 190
-FMIC with aftermarket upper hard pipes and home made lower pipes
-Aftermarket intake pipe
-Cheap air filter I robbed off my blowed up Colt Vista ( my K&N was too big)
-a Fidanza short shifter and a Zoom stage 2 clutch that I still haven't put in
-Magnecor 8.5mm wires

Suspension:
-Eibach sportline springs
-KYB GR2 shocks
-RM racing front and rear sway bars (haven't installed the rear one yet)
-Megan front strut tower
-Brembo slotted rotors
-Hawk HPS pads
-painted calipers

Inside:
-Autometer tripple pod
-Autometer z series gauges: boost, egt, oil psi
-Cheap autometer autogauge tach
-SAFC 2
-Wideband O2 (ordering in the next few weeks)
-System delete: sold my Orion H2 sub and box, still got my HCCA 250r amp though and my HCCA sub, so I might do something else later.
-Sold the pioneer headunit for a kenwood

I know I left some stuff out but thats pretty much it, as far as the stuff I changed last summer.

Heres some pics I took yesterday:
Theres no new pics of the engine cause it was dirty, so if you want to see it, check out my website!

Also, I'm having a problem. I just realized that my BOV isnt even working so obviously I dont have the right vacuum source. Where exactly does the BOV vac. line go to on the intake manifold?

Heres the engine and interior pics. They were taken a while back but nothings changed. Since these pics I have actually mounted the SAFC 2 to the dash instead of it just dangling there like in the pics, lol. Enjoy.

Am I seeing something, or is the redline on the 4g64 6k? Shit even my dinky 420A auto redlines at 6.5k, and the manuals are at 7k. Why the hell did they keep it so low do you think?

Actually it redlines at like 6300 or so. And my 4g64 has almost a half a liter more displacement than your dinky 420a, and as you know the more stroke the less you can rev.

Yeah, has to do with rod ratios 'n shit. Also, the shitty flowing SOHC head wouldnt be able to make use of higher rpms. *cough cough* DOHC head swap *cough cough*

Remember, I still got the 6 bolt 4g64 block sitting on the table. *cough cough* donate me a DOHC 1g head! And you other bastards can donate some forged rods and pistons.

.4 liters should not cut down on 1k of rpms. Take the S2000 for example, 2.2 liters and it redlines at 7800 rpm. Granted that thing is built better than a 4g64, but still. I'm surprised they chopped it down that much.

you can't compare the S2000... that's a completely different motor...

To do somewhat of a comparison, you'd have to look at a motor and it's stroked redline... like a 350 vs a 383 (stroked 350)

My friend has an S2000 and I thought that thing redlines at like 9k

My 2.4 redlines at 6k from the factory. It has the same rod length as a big block chevy(4")

By the way, your spyder is looking great

Looks great man... Now let me do something nobody else has done yet. Answer your question about the BOV... You can take any vacuum source for it to work properly. It doesn't need to be from any specific area.

Keep up the good work.

I live in North Carolina.

Thanks for all the compliments, I appreciate it.

Blackcrow:
Yesterday I re-did the vacuum for the bov, and now it works. This is gonna sound crazy as hell:
This whole time I've been driving the car the bov never worked, and after i got it working the car ran alot better until i warped on it, then the boost would go stupid high. So I figured out that I didn't have the source for the wastegate right either..lol, so I re-did that, now it peaks at 9psi which is ok.
But my previous setup of no bov or no wastegate, lol, it also peaked at 9....but i guess that is just becasue so much boost was building in the pipes in between the throttle body and the compressor that it wouldnt let the compressor move any faster...I dont know if any of this makes sense to anybody. Anyway the only reason i found out that the bov wasnt working was because i was talking to a guy that has a gst and i mentioned something about how my turbo chops....and he immediately knew what the problem was and told me it was the bov.
So basically my shat was screwed up but I got it right now.

david-b

So where did you originally have the BOV and wastegate connected to? And where do you have it now?

vanilla gorilla

So where did you originally have the BOV and wastegate connected to? And where do you have it now?

Originally I just picked a vac. line on the intake manifold and T'd the bov into it....which obviously didnt work but now I got it T'd to the line that goes from the intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator which does work.

Originally the wastegate line was hooked to a nipple on my intake pipe....that didnt work...so I did what I was supposed to do in the beginning and took my J-pipe and tapped a fitting onto it and put the line there.

Revability has little to do with actual displacement, it has more to do with the ratio between the rod length an stroke. From what I remember, the "sweet spot" is between 1.6 and 1.7, 4g63's being like 1.7 which is why they can take revs. However, a 2.3 stroker is more like 1.45 or something rediculous like that, hence why people cant push them like a 2.0. The older S2k's had a 9k redline while the newer ones have an 8300, I dont know of any with a 7800.

Vannilla, if you want a DOHC head, I have a complete spare. I was going to just keep it as a spare, but if you want it I will sell it to you for sure. I also have a spare 1g IM and valve cover if you want them. I wont get to it until mid May but its there if you want it. Also, you should check on that engine from the Colt, I'm 95% sure its a 2.0 with a SOHC head on it.

The motor that came out of the Colt Vista is deffinatly a 4g64, its stamped right on the side of the block. This is the block that I want to build...probly to use in the clipse. But I'm not giving up on the Colt either. One of my buddy's people has a junk yard, so he's gonna find me a engine for it. Use that as the parts gettin' wagon/pimp mobile.

NICE! That is super cheap for an autometer tach, I wonder what guauge series the Talon is getting?

Damn that shit is tight. I have always wanted to do away with those POS stock guages, that guage series might do it for me.

Yeah killa, thats the one I got.

But I only paid like $100 for it cause I got employee discount, yay!
