When I engage 4wd it does fine while going straight, but when I turn it seems to want to make the truck stop almost and sounds like a grinding sound. The rear wheel on the inside of the turn starts to slip. It drive fine in 2wd straight and turning. I checked the front diff fluid and it was low so i changed it and am still having the problem. I did notice there was a small crack in one of the cv boots and it seems that there is a seal that is leaking between the diff and the passenger side axle. If you have any suggestions it would help greatly thanks

If the CV boot is cracked, then dirt can get into the CV joint and ruin it. It is like a magnet for dirt. If it was my truck, I would probably replace the half shaft if I did not know how long the crack was in the boot. If it making noise, it is probably ruined.

could be c.v. joint and to your leaking you'll have to pull axle out and inspected the seal going in to diff. and put new seal in.

if it was the c.v. joint wouldnt it be causing problems all the time? i am going to replace the boot and possibly the joint if it looks bad. thanks for the input i find it strange that it only makes the noise when in 4wd would a bad seal cause that. i am just wondering if it is something internal on the diff or transaxle. thanks

When the CV joints go bad they tend to make more noise when turning then when going straight. In 2 wheel drive there is no force on them so they won't make as much noise as when in 4 wheel drive.
