What does a turbo guage do?

I posted a thread below where I feel like my car isnt' as fast, but after thinking about it, i feel like my turbo isn't kicking in everyy time. Has anyone experienced this? Sometimes my car accelerates quickly, and other times it feels like its just lagging.

It tells you the boost level being generated by the turbo....in essence.

When you say lagging, are you downshifting? If you step on the gas in 5th, it's not going to take off like it would if you were in 3rd.

No, mostly I'm talking about first gear. Starting from a standstill.

Turbo pressures are stepped in the Subaru. 1st gear won't allow your turbo to kick in all the way. If I recall, you don't get full boost until 3rd gear. Saves people from exploding their motors.
